Okay, so maybe you aren't good enough to have a career in art. Maybe your free time is devoted to your job or other obligations. Don't let this discourage you. You WILL make gradual improvements if you keep practicing. Never let this skill deteriorate.

In my classes, we have a 54 year old and a 65 year old who started drawing last year and have already made admirable improvements. A 28 year old who only drew shitty characters has improved quite a lot since starting classes. A 35 year old learned how to paint and is now respectably decent at it after only 6 months.

With a structured routine, diligent commitment, and mindful, deliberate practice, PROGRESS WILL COME. Don't listen to these crab memes. NEVER GIVE UP.

I don't see what's so bad about 25.

Practice hard for 10 years and you should be more than good enough to get paid for your work by 35. You then have 30 whole years of being an actual pro artist, or even longer if you're enjoying it too much to retire, and through that you'll continue to improve and get better and better gigs.

What is this even trying to say?

Maybe I am lucky to live near independent art instructors and a local community open to art. Nobody here is famous or works at some major gaming company, but they are all artists in pursuit of improvement and eventual mastery. They will all be honing their techniques while you will tear people down when they just need encouragement and some guidance. Begone, crab.

To everyone else: mindful practice and diligence will certainly produce the fruits of progress. Do not give up on your long journey.

There’s more to the world than high school and art school, young crablet. Community and City/State colleges often offer evening and weekend no credit classes that older adults take and many cities usually have a league type organization where anyone can enroll in classes out of interest regardless of their skill level. Even art schools have summer/winter electives you can sign up for without being officially enrolled. I’ve done a couple of random classes with a spread of ages from 20 to 50, it’s not unusual.

Well, let's put it this way. My financial advisor once told me that he didn't become an investment advisor until he was 40. He was a cop until his mid 30s and said he hated it. Couldn't do it anymore. So he went to university at 36. All his friends said "Dude, you're way too old for school". But he did it. He got his degree and started working.

He retired last year at 60, his last year he told me he earned $300K/yr working at investors group, and said that wasn't even his best year. The guy has a house in Canada and a house in the US. Everything he wants. Retired doing what he loved.

They can. I've had friends start in their 30s and get better than me in 2 years, and I've been drawing seriously since I was 17. It's all about how much effort you put in and where you learn from. If you have working professionals as teachers to guide you you're going to progress faster than a self taught with a few books.

These idiots just want to be victims and have an excuse to whine about their age being the reason they didn't make it. It's not your age, it's a fault in your personality. You don't work hard enough or you didn't want it bad enough. That's all it is.
