The biggest hit to my motivation was seeing things I loved to draw and put a lot of passion in get absolutely no feedback as if they didn't exist but 30 second shitposts with a sexual undertone and things I hated but were crafted in a way that was bland and boring would always get genuine praise and people begging for more.
It was so much better when I lived in this fantasy where I was just not good enough to express my ideas and other memes like that. Reality is just that if you don't draw the right stuff you're fucked no matter what.

Yeah, that's the real kicker. Sad part is I actually got more feedback drawing porn than not. People weren't kidding when porn is literally ez mode. Ironically it made me go back to my normal stuff and stubbornly focus on them instead.

do art trades, participate in challenges and trends and branch out into fanart of stuff you actually like. its also a nice way to make art friends which could help grow your audience as artists tend to signal boost eachother, also its just nice to make friends

Honestly this comes off as an edgy cope of someone who refuses to adapt to how the world actually is, even your language suggests as much. What makes someone "deserve" a following in the art world if not making appealing art? The truth is that nobody but artists gives a shit about skill, most people are perfectly fine with seeing appealing or cute low skill drawings. In this day and age when art is experienced through thumbnails and quick glances on your feed, the general look, colors and composition is even more emphasized and simpler drawings are more likely to catch the eye and pop out on someone's feed. You either adapt to this, or you cry about the world not pandering to your specific sensibilities while it moves on without you. That's not to say that getting popular does not involve luck due to how things can snowball and give you disproportionate attention, but you still need to make appealing drawings fit for the format you're working with and network regardless.

join generals of games/anime/cartoons that you're interested in, join their discords and do requests, post your blog there, use their respective fandom hashtags, make sure you post daily and keep a pace after that. social media favors regular posting and using fandoms you'll make yourself known and hopefuly hook people to your original work.
