If only this artist had a name, like kairunoburogu or something. If only he made tutorials to explain how he did it. Imagine now, if those tutorials where easily findable by typing something in Google like "kairunoburogu tutorials", how great it would be.

Short answer: kill yourself

Long answer: use gradient fills with skin samples, radial gradient with redder skin in the center of the radi and yellower skin at the circumference. Use a transparent white color to create lighting over the toned skin or material. Adjust opacity till it's kinda white but not too white, avoid glossing over the same spot twice, use single strokes as much as possible. Use a transparent black color, sane opacity settings as white or similar. Create shadows where shadows should be. (This will only work for skin tho, cloth and leathery material is colored differently)

Honestly the character on the lefts face isn't too bad, for me the problem is that his rendering looks very plasticy and synthetic, almost like his characters are mannequins, I have a feeling if removed all color and this was just a black and white lineworked drawing. It would look a lot better.
