ngmi? define ngmi? why even bother? what's so wrong with not being able to make it? if you're so confident that perfecting and mastering those so-called fundamentals would allow you to get into this closed haven of those who made it then surely everyone would've done it a long time ago. what's so wrong with drawing flawed art? as long as you're happy with it, right?

I'm unhappy with my art but too lazy to work harder.

there's a good place for people like you, it's called communism, you don't have to be better there or compete with anyone, cuz you'll get the same no matter how good or bad you are.

If it were so easy to achieve, everyone would be there, but it isn't so they aren't.
It's your prerogative to not improve, whatever, but I want to get better, if only for myself.

It's easy if you have talent. If you don't have talent you're never going to make it.

You are right. As long as you're happy, there is nothing wrong with flawed art but sometimes happiness you think you feel is something else, it's more akin to fear, fear to become better, to see the truth, to question yourself or to post your art online and receive critics.

If what you make is crap and you're happy with it... that's okay. That's majority of out-of-proportion shit online coming from 17yo edgy shitheads who call them selves artists. They draw/paint an absolutely horrible looking face or wtv, and are happy with it because they don't see or refuse to see how bad it is, and they enjoyed the process. They'll even have other "artists" go and mass-like their shit and reinforce them

Is this ok? for sure. Can we call it art? ... If we define art as the creation of something (no matter how bad) out of nothing, then I guess it qualifies, and our person can sit back and think they've made it
However, these people will never actually make their drawings look the way they think they're looking and the reason for this is how fucking happy they are with the shit they put on the paper/canvas/wtv they work with

I don't think it's possible to actually make it, because if you're really driven to do better, no matter how good you are, you'll always see your flaws and will always want to improve. So anyone who claims "I've made it" has failed. The second you sit back and feel comfy and satisfied with everything you did, it's all fucked.

I personally see "making it" as that point when you have all of the fundamentals down and can take off the training wheels, so to speak. The point where you can consistently make good quality work and are mentally equipped to strike out on your own with your studies.
Think of it like a doctor, scientist or engineer getting their degree. It's not an endpoint, it's the beginning of the real work.

>...communism, you don't have to be better there or compete with anyone...
That's not how it works at all. Communist societies are way more viciously competitive than capitalist ones, because it actually sucks being one of the losers in a communist regime. You can starve to death, or get killed as part of political games. Communism doesn't remove hierarchies, it just collapses everything into one single hierarchy where everyone is scrambling for the same goal. Free societies have some people going for material wealth, some for status, some for power, some for fame, some for love, some for freedom, some for security... in communism, all of those things are way more dependent on each other. You can't have material goods without the approval of the party, You can't have safety without the approval of the party. You can't be famous, or respected, or wield political power, or even just raise a family in peace without the party. The party is everywhere and pervades everything.
