I'm convinced it was done by somebody who really just disliked anime and it was trying their hardest to to make it look as stupid and derpy as possible to any potential buyers, as a way to convince them that "anime is not the way to go". Like a lowkey cautionary book.
I mean, there's no way that somebody would draws eyes looking in opposite directions like that unless they're taking the piss. It has to be a troll, there's no other explanation.
Then again, the profile image looks okay, but is that because it's very small and hard to read or was it drawn by somebody else?
I don't fucking know, man. This book is an anomaly.

You know, I used to think, whats the big deal with lovecraftian horror? How do people look at some eldrich abomination and go insane or burst into flames? At most they should just shrug and have no idea what theyre looking it if its so incomprehensible.

But after looking at this pic for a few seconds I think i finally understand. I could fucking feel my eyes burning and physical pain pushing at the back of my skull. I damn near screamed as i looked away and im certain that if i hadnt at the exact moment i did, if i had continued to gaze upon it for even a millisecond more, i would not be alive to have posted this right now.

He got a little better with later books apparently, enough to get out of downy town but not enough to get out of "Westerner who doesn't understand anime on a fundamental level" territory. There's something really derpy with his art books in general, not just the How 2 Drawr Manger books.

There's actually quite a bit wrong with the head - the shape of it looks almost like the head of your typical grey alien and the eyes only emphasize that. There's also the shading - there doesn't really appear to be a definite light source and when you don't include that in shading the result is usually very lumpy. Her face is scrunched up and pug-like too, like >>4608998 described.

I did try to rebuild her for shits and giggles. It didn't go well if you ask me.
