would you rather
be able to draw anything at ease but no one notices you or
be the shitest artist to walk this earth but also the most famous

What's the point of being such a great artist if there'sno one to be inspired by my work? I thought one of the most important points of Art was the fact that it could be used as a way to communicate ideas, messages, concepts and such.

I think the only benefit would be having a mancave full of drawings, to be discovered after you die, with no one identifying who you were, and that sounds cool

Famous or popular? Famous for being shit doesn't seem like a good thing. Popularity, on the other hand, seems worth the compromise. I'll just have to comfort myself by banging art groupies on beds of money.

what’s is your goal in art if it’s not for the fame?
if you chose the first option you will have the ability to draw at the level of perfection but it also means you won’t have any more room for improvement that could leave you an empty void
you can fulfill that other dreams with the money you get by chosing the second option

>> No.4579853

Putting in all the time and hard work is the only thing that makes all this fun and worth while. The reason you all are stuck here is because you don't see that. What are any of you going to even do if you just instantly became super popular or skilled? You'd all most likely sit on your laurels for a month and go back into to your self hating habits, and worst of all, realize you aren't any happier sitting on top of the mountain

I just find it enjoyable to create art and I feel good about myself and life when I finish a piece and my friends tell me good job

I don’t really care about being noticed by anybody else and I don’t expect any level of fame anyway. So it’d be great if I had better skills, but in a way I prefer choosing neither option and getting to see improvement over time

>> No.4580186

>>4578666
drawing perfectly is a curse too imagine never being able to learn new things or get better, you would just get bored of drawing and do something else. May as well be shit tier and actually enjoy trying to get better.

People say this for everything. I’ve wasted my whole life on schooling and never entertained the idea of having a personal life and more or less wallowed in self hatred for nearly a decade when I couldn’t afford to finish it, but once I get that worthless piece of paper to be able to buy a house I’ll feel better or kill myself and there’s nothing you can do to stop me.

Absolutely #2, without a single doubt. I cannot believe that people are picking #1.

Being able to draw well vs. being the most famous artist in the history of humanity. The choice is obvious. You'd be set for life. You'd be a rockstar. You'd be able to do whatever you want and sell it for hundreds of millions of dollars. Sure, it won't be very good, but you can be a shitty artist and happy with your work, especially if you're getting validated by everyone on the planet as the most famous and prolific artist to ever exist. You'll be set for life. Your friends and family will be set for life. Your kids, and their kids, and their kids, for generations to come, will be setup well forever due to your prolific wealth. All while being perfectly capable of being satisfied and happy with your artwork.

This board is delusional.

>>4581189
I wouldn't be satisfied with shitty artwork. I would literally never be able to improve, explore, or do anything that I actually want to do with drawing. I'd just take neither, because both of them are a curse.
#2 is only acceptable to people who don't actually care about art in the first place.

It's a tool to make comics, games and stories while being able to impose 100% of my creative vision. Though even then fame is not my goal; I just want to make what I want with myself as the only audience in mind.

In second scenario I would end up like those actors that try to makes movies; "He is an amazing artist but his games are boring as fuck"

Top down strategy game, I want to see how far I will go with programming and art before I burn out. I don't want to drag other people into it, at least for now. Making collaborators angry at me because I scrap the project would feel awful and I want to spare people some additional disappointment.

>> No.4585450

>>4579837
Drawing anything with ease isn't all there is to art, you know. I don't think that just having god-tier skills means attaining perfection. There's still so much to do with that skill, so many ways to use it. I want to make art because it makes me happy, I want to make cool shit even if nobody notices and I don't get famous. Maybe I'll be famous when I'm dead and maybe nobody would ever notice my shit even after that point.

But hell, I'd die happy just knowing is made what I set out to make. Fame and money are nothing in comparison, at least to me.

"Making it" isn't just about popularity and cash, anon.

>> No.4585475

I get that, I personally think that having other person rely on me would make me finish the project, but I'd have to start with something very simple. Do you have an idea where could I find a programmer willing to collaborate?

Some people will hate me for saying that but checking Reddit can give you something, you can try /agdg/ but it is shitpost most of the time. Also depending on programs you can check out official forums of unity, ue, etc. they usually have threads about "I am looking for work" and "I work and looking for people" and stuff.
