It's easy to make any learning method look retarded if you only showcase the failures though. You can find abject failures who did fundies grinding, who did Just Draw, who copied anime, etc.
I wish more pro artists talked about how they learned and what helped them the most. People tell me that all good artists grinded boxes and persoective but honestly that feels like a psy op, I've never seen direct evidence for it beyond "/ic/ said it's important so it must be true".
David Finch said that his anatomy improved a lot when he started memorizing Bridgman plates, I guess that counts as fundies grinding.
