A lot of us end up drawing ethnocentric art for some reason, maybe some consider it empowering. But I honestly think its a combination of western culture and the population ratio. Just as we're a minority to the general population, we'll likely be a minority in whatever career/field within said population. And regarding culture, there's a lot more pressure for a black dude/girl to push towards a conventional job because of the starving artist archetype. Our parents are ussually strict and narrow minded holding to a fear that we won't grow up successful and give in to stereotypes. Not many rich relatives to bail us out or property to our name from the 40s or shit like that lol.

From an outsiders perspective, Id actually be perfectly happy seeing black folk like yourself being in charge of the entertainment industry in America.
I think it desperately needs a shakeup and of all the groups making art in the US, I think artists with your kind of background are actually ahead in terms of style and creativity.
