People who show up and post once or twice in either the drawthread or /alt/, post their self-promo, and then vanish back into the ether. Generally noticeable because they're more skilled than average, but also not one of the regulars like Tableguy/Firez/Bagboss/etc.

Like I said, not trying to call anyone out or anything (and if he's still here, I actually like his stuff), but the guy from draw thread before last is a perfect example. Posts a finished piece, responds to multiple people to get max engagement, drops his promo, and then never posts again. Same strategy for a lot of people in a 2-3 week span. They're all contributing good art, so I'm not complaining, and I'm sure I'm just an autistic retard for noticing, but it got me wondering.

Either way, don't want to clog up the thread so I'll shut up.

Cause followers is the cancer that dictates everything in social media. It the way you get exposure out, it's how you compare to others, and it has become a metric to gauge success and F4F is the easiest and quickest way of doing that. Quality becomes a 2nd priority cause what's the point of making "good art" if nobody is going to see it, bookmarks it, retweet or whatever the that platform uses. So it devolves into doing the what's popular to appeal the crowd, doing what gets you followers. That's why lot of shit you see on social media seems soulless cause they're not drawing to draw what they want and have fun, but to appeal to a niche or fanbase to get those clicks and followers. If your going to do shit to appeal others at least do it with your friends so you can get a reaction and have some fun with it. Keep drawing as my hobby so your not forced to maintain followers to keep the paycheck going. The only good thing with social media is that it's great as a backup for when you loss your original files.
