so i've heard the advice that getting good at drawing helps painting/rendering, but does the reverse also apply? does getting better at painting help with drawing?

does it?

rendering for hours teaches you technique but ultimately if you can't get good result in a short amount of time then somethings wrong i think.

No

well it depends on how you operate
if you are aware of the shapes that the subject is made up of and keep on observing the different kinks and knacks of objects that the brain doesn't pick up on first viewing then a constant exposure to and observation of drawings can help improve your drawing that's a half of drawing well the other half is having physical dexterity with your hands and being able to fraw those kinks and knacks that you wish to depict.

tldr (kinda, it depends on your modus operandi)
