Makes me think the problem is more a lack of efficient study or applying yourself than some innate lack of talent. It's a problem a lot of people who mainly copy photos have I think. I keep hearing about people who do endless studies and never learn, while artists who do cartoons/animu while doing studies on the side usually make a lot more progress. Your issue is probably just a lack of drawing from imagination, so you're weak at it

Think about the positive things you have already. A roof over your head, parents that feed you, and a lot of time on your hands to be thinking about what you want to do. Everyone goes through struggles, and even though you've been doing this shit for 6 years, look at Kim Jung gi. He's been rage drawing since he was 6, and only got his first commission when he was 27. That's hell of a longer time than you've been at it anon. The only difference between him and you is that he didn't give up.

We're on the same boat then. Started digital drawing 6 years ago and have made mediocre improvements. Sometimes I feel down whenever I see artists who started at the same time as me and are now reaping their rewards. Recently, I started to not care anymore (I still do) and just focus on my own journey. The fact that other people can create great art means we can also do the same. However, it may take a lot longer, years or perhaps decades. Besides, atleast I have something to occupy myself with until I become senile.

I did improve and I'm glad I did. However, I'm disappointed with how I did not consistently drew this past six years. Had I committed my time to studying drawing instead of video games and tv shows, I'd be further than where I am right now.
>Can I ask how you practice so that I don’t end up the same way?
I suggest placing yourself in the shoes of a beginner who's eager to learn. There are many times where I was too prideful, I'd only glance at a reference of a muscle or a body part and grind away never to look at it again. I would not analyse it because I was 'above' it or so I thought.
Also, don't focus too much on one area alone. This six years I was focused on anime styled human figures, using only fundies as a leverage. As a result, I have zero knowledge on other areas such as perspective and inorganic objects. Values still elude me to this day, I maybe able to do draw lines, but I am not able to paint values. >>4438933
Lastly, mileage. Draw as much as you can, I have only improved by virtue of time (6 years of occasional drawing) and not by virtue of hard work (drawing every waking moment).

Fancy meeting you here. I'm 23 years old.
>2018 seems to be a turning point especially like that greyscale picture of the girl
Yes that particular piece is entirely different from what I usually do. I really forced myself to get into values. However, it wasnt made using the conventional blending of values. I did it by filling an entire layer with dark gray value, underneath it is a layer thats entirely white. The process involved erasing the dark grays where I think light hit the figure, revealing the white layer beneath it. The end result is excellent but the method itself is not sustainable, took me 5 days.

Your problem is your method of learning and practicing/studying. You need to learn the correct way to learn. Please watch some youtube videos on how to study. The methods for studying for a test and studying art overlap.

This is where I see that you're blaming your brain for your issues drawing despite self-admitting to "only drawing when you feel like it, which isn't often"

So I post, making fun of this fact, because from the content of what you posted SO FAR its obvious to any reader that its not a brain issue but a work ethic issue (BASED ON WHAT YOUVE POSTED)

Then you start bugging out saying you already know what your deficiencies are and that im not offering any 'insight', making me assume you know that its your work ethic was the issue, since THAT WAS THE CONTENT of what I posted.

So I point out that you never said you knew it was your work ethic, which is when you start bugging out about my reading comprehension and I just start to get confused because obviously you have a tenuous grasp on whats happening or how to follow a conversation.
