One thing I notice is the eyes are pretty simplistic, which is fine if you're doing a 4-koma or something basic. You can simplify the eyes even further by dropping the highlights (the little white circles in the eyes) down to just one. If you're drawing a girl or woman, don't forget to add eyelashes. They don't have to be batwings, but it helps to convey gender. Mind the spacing of the eyes. I remember learning someplace that the eyes should be something like 1 1/2 eyes of space in between the eyes. Start by marking the outer edges of the eyes on the face, then work your way to the center. Aside from that, study how your favorite artists draw eyes, and try emulating them.

Today's copy. Looks nothing like the original, especially since I can't find a brush to replicate their painting in Krita. But it works for growing out of chicken scratch, and I hope I'll eventually end up with a similar style.

If anyone has any recommended tutorials for anime-style painting, or that anime-adjacent style that most Chinese/Korean artists use, I'd be glad. I also don't like the speed at which I churn these out, but that's probably a "draw more" problem with no quick solution.

Looks cool.
The rest of your lines are fairly clean but the black horizon and the two lines are wobbly, it sticks out. Also, the bottom has some nice contrast with the bright colors sticking out against the black but the head just fades in with the white top even with the red points. All i could suggest for that is fill the top with some dark colors or fill one of the ‘triangles’ you made with color to direct the viewers eye and highlight one part of the head.

It is far from done and I am glad that we see the same mistakes; Do you have any ideas as to what kind of a scene you would put in the headspace of the figure? I thought about painting a scene from an old dream of mine where I held a dying man in a creek that surrounded a building in a sort of a Neo-Babylonesque city. But I am not sure it will set well. Do it just to see how it looks. When i Think babylonian i think gold, and I think doing the same thing you did for the hands (adding shadows on an otherwise flat picture) might look good on buildings. Right now i like the main focus being the man with the flute/stick, so keeping the background simple and providing contrast to it might be fine.
Id say try what you had in mind and see how it turns out. It would be cool to see a story told in the background of image, where you would only see it if you look closer.

You are doing fine, I think the biggest step you would need to take is to use a wider range of values. Current your picture has a hard time to describe form and seems flat because it lacks deeper variety of values. At places were ambient occlusion happens like the nostrils the hair the lips and so on, fixing a light source can also help with this.

I know it is hard when one starts to put a dark spot onto a pristine colored area this is something we bring with us from the years we spent working at lineart but please trust me that it will look better at the end, this is a step one must learn to take to improve rendering.

Keep working at it!

this, but also the torso should be twisted such that the right shoulder is almost farther forward than the left. I also feel like there's something to say about the placement of the shoulders relative to the upper torso, but I'm not sure if that's related to what I mentioned earlier, and I don't have enough experience to properly describe it myself anyway. Perhaps someone else could explain better.

If you're having trouble understanding, try mimicking swinging a baseball bat and it'll (hopefully) become clear if you're doing the motion correctly. Currently, it looks like the character is leaning back with his arms forward, not swinging the bat.

That and the character in the drawing has a slimmer build in the man in the photograph, so when they're put next to each other, the drawing looks a little scuffed by comparison.

Would look better without the black face woman with a shovel. Sticks out like a sore thumb. The weird dude on the left fits nicely though. The whole scene gives an eerie feeling due to the color choice and cliff dude.
Some of the trees have light on the shadow side, especially the ones closer to the middle of the painting. Having light on the side of the tree to frame it is fine, but theres random highlights facing the viewer when there should be shadow instead. Also, theres no shadows on the ground. The sun is low in the sky and should be casting long ones off the canvas. Instead, it looks like it gets lighter closer to the viewer.

These aren't bad for a start. A big part of improving is just mileage. As you draw more, you will naturally acquire cleaner lines and better shading.
You had the right idea for the rib cage and the connection to the arms on the top right and then kind of regressed on the other two.
There are some obvious deformities, like the hands and feet.
Once you get comfortable with drawing at this level of detail, you need to start drilling down into anatomy and learn the shapes of individual muscles and also how things connect. That will help make your drawings look more believable.
Make sure you're doing both drawings from reference and drawings from imagination.

I still experiment with lines and detail, I have spastic hands, so I can't draw a fucking line the same way twice.
How do I add details to this rock wall? (It's a supposed to be a perfectly straight canyon with a river flowing through), like uneven splits, ridges, protusions, indents, etc. I want to add a shadow/lightning layer later, so those details would also cast shadows and such

Higher quality pencils and paper help but it's a very small factor over all
>other people get even tones and mine is all grainy and textured
It's purely practice.
Shade very slowly. Build up tones in layers. It's easier to make tones look smoother if they're lighter so start with a very light smooth layer. Be slow and methodical. Don't just use the side of your pencil to try and shade in bulk. When you have an even light layer, put another light layer on top to make it slightly darker. Switch up to softer pencils as necessary. Repeat until you have the desired value.

Relying on other tools means you won't learn full control of your pencil and you won't see the full range of what it's capable of all by itself (which is, "pretty much everything").
Learn how to control the pencil first and then explore other tools if you want. That control will pay off when you're able to draw a wider range of things quickly and naturally and you won't have to stop and think "ok do I need to start blending now, do I need to get the stump now, etc". It can all just come right out of the pencil.

Okay, so here's what I wanna do:
I wanted to draw an arching bridge of a river (blue is water, green is land) and I want the perspective to be from eye level standing so that the origin and the end of the bridge are in view, so I can draw stuff on it.
I set up twovanishing points because I read that's what youre supposed to do, I used lines and vectors to create an overlay of lines.
Then I wanted to draw the beginning and I met the first hurdle: The beginning of the bridge (where the two bright arches originate in the lower right) is horizontal, but my vanishing points dictate it be MUCH higher up, which would look weird, like a photo with a fisheye lens..
Should I adjust for that or should I streth the righthand vanishing point to be even further to the right, making the lines closer to horizontal?
