i'm begging you, please help me find a good blender brush for clip studio paint.

all the shit i have blends so horrendously, it looks like all it does is grab the colors and displace them with one another instead of actually blending them together. i've tried making my own and it's just as bad. all i want is a smooth transition between 2 colors the looks seamless like the picture.

You don't need a special brush for that, just learn how to paint a gradient. Like the other anon says, lay down your base colours with a big hard round, then go in with a soft/airbrush to paint the transition, and play around with the opacity/flow as you eye dropper tool like a mofo. It really isn't rocket science.

>> No.4407706

How to blend it easy.

1- Get the fill tool, fill drawing with base colors, no shading, light, just the local color, on normal layer.

2- Create new layer on multiply, get the lasso fill tool and cel shade everything properly, by properly I mean respect the anatomy but also make it look cool and not bland.

Now, when you're done and the cel shaded version looks pretty good (as in you could post it as a finished art) then you can get to the next step, otherwise the next step will be crap if you don't know what you're doing. A good cheap rule to follow is making shadow slightly more saturated than the base color.

You might want to have the cel shaded as backup so dupe it and hide the copy.

3- Get the selection tool, put the base color layer as reference layer, select any single color that you want to shade go to the multiply layer and with the blender tool using the Blur setting start blurring the edges of the cel shaded, uuh, shades, make the brush pretty big, don't shade all the edges, leave some as sharp. Do that until you happy with it.

You might want to change the colors later on, so if you want to change the shadow the color balance the multiply layer, otherwise the base one. If only a specific color then use the selection tool on the referenced layer.

4- Deeper shadow/Occlusion shadow. Make another layer, repeat step 2 and 3 where occlusion happens, look what an occlusion shadow is, in short it's where 2 objects are too close together, example when you butt meets it creates a shadow.

5- Do the same as step 2 and 3 but for highlight now and using a Screen layer, another cheap good rule to follow is making the light less saturated than the base color.

6- Do the same step 2 and 3 for some soft light, go easy on this light. Use it only to add slightly more depth.

7- Create a new layer with either Multiply, Screen, Overlay, Color Burn, Color Dodge and drop random colors because color sells nowadays. Don't overdo it otherwise it will look amateur.

i'm gonna try to translate this

1. paint base.
2. new multiply layer, lasso and cel shade
3. use blender tool & blur setting on multiply layer to blur edges of cel shading
4.do darker shadows
5.new multiply layer for highlights (hard light), then blur edges on a screen layer
6. new multiply layer for soft light
7. new layer and put a color overlay

It makes those uniformed color switch kinda bland in my opinion. I only use it when there's a lot of little details and I can't be bothered to design the values myself. Like let's say a cast shadow over my over rendered hair

If you need to change the base color it will auto change the multiply one without it looking strange (it will always be darker than the base) so you can either ignore the multiply one or do a small change if necessary. But either way works, it's just more convenient for me when someone decides the colors I used isn't right.

My confidence is pretty solid. I spent these last few years really learning art and got comfy with it. to the point I've gotten kind of bored because there's nothing else I wanna strive for except for when i obsess over some small unnoticable shit like how thick my lines are or something. I have more knowledge than I need or even use for that matter so I'd rather share it with people who can actually get something out of it because they're serious about the medium. I want to see other people improve more than I do now.

Nobody cares about tumblr and their feelings. I stopped hanging around most furry circles because they seem to only care about who has the most clout and I can't get invested in those kinds of communities no matter how much I try. I don't stick around them too long because I lose interest and can't connect with the people in them. I'm only around for the creative circlejerk. I admire and respect people with unique ideas. I'd love to teach furries how to improve but nobody wants to learn unless you set by example and I'm just far too lazy.

I love me some good ol monster ass though. that's just how I be. in the future I'm pretty sure I'll draw more I just don't get involved in internet shit. it's not my cup of tea. I think most people here can understand that.

For beginners I always try to give a basic lay down of fundamentals.

>abstract
the creative idea or conceptualization. things like composition design theme aesthetics and relativistic thinking of how things work in terms of appeal and feel. this is like the art of storytelling when you learn a language. it's not the actual language but the art of using it effectively to convey an idea. most beginners should learn foundational fundamentals first at their most basic level so they aren't completely lost then learn abstract stuff in tandem. I tend to argue these kinds of fundies are the most important as a creative since they're the real essence of your work. and also because /ic/ is fucking retarded and can only think in terms of correctness sometimes so they completely gloss over how these subjective ideas work and gives birth to the polished turd trend. this is really the difference between making it or not IMO

>foundational
the building blocks of all art regardless of whats in it. perspective light value form things that all things exist in or are represented through art. this is akin to learning what a language is and how it's structured. perspective form and light are all things that can be studied with a more literal science like approach which makes it a lot easier in a way. but it's still pretty difficult. these are your basic basics. absolutely essential. read the sticky.

>referential
anything related to learning how to draw something specific. machines. anatomy. nature. clothes. like studying a dictionary. this isn't the most important one to actually begin art. but later on as you progress it becomes the pretty important. building a visual library is hard work and takes memorization skills. the best way I've found to really memorize things is to actually understand thoroughly how they function. your brain starts to understand how things relate to each other in terms of functionality and it categorizes things based on that.

I absolutely adore comics. I grew up as a huge weeb who loved manga years before I actually really learned the fundamentals. so that stuff is really ingrained in my psyche. as much as i appreciate comics I do think western comics have never appealed to me much. its a shame. visual storytelling is a really powerful medium yet people don't celebrate it as much because they associate it with generic western concepts or are afraid to be labeled weebs like anyone cares. all manga really is is comics with more emphasis on cartoon. there's certain stuff only comics can do that's really dope.

why not? average joes cant really comprehend it for some reason but I'm an artist who draws for fun so I don't really need them for anything besides maybe keeping up with other artists and staying in touch. keeping up with sites like those is too much work for me and really distracting anyways so I usually just end up leaving so I can focus on art instead of thinking about them. I love to socialize but I'm learning how to be a lot more solitary. even if i was doing a serious project I'd still just stick to myself and finish it before releasing it. I've never gotten used to full color comics in particular so that's actually new territory I want to explore more. my linework has gotten pretty thin and my style is generally pretty tone heavy so it doesn't feel as toony as I think i would like it to be. but I should just trust my own instincts. Awesome, I too, really admire his style. Really I think Sunibee has made a splash in the nsfw scene, whether people realize it or not. Really his style stands out, as well as something that does actually cross the to the legitimate artistic side mixed with nsfw. I wish I had the courage to learn his coloring down, it always feels so soft and warm, usually just so soft and squishy. I've never wanted to try because I feel like it's "his" thing or his "style", and I don't want to be a copy-cat, like some nsfw artists I've seen. Regardless, really admire him as an artist.

You really shouldn't be scared of being a copycat lol, you have to remember that every style is a combination of elements from others. If the only thing stopping you from finding your dream style is worrying about being unoriginal, just go for it

Construction is taking solid simple forms and them carving out the details in increments. it's really good for big pictures with lots of stuff in it like architecture. speaking of which look up archimaps on tumblr they have mad good architecture references for anyone interested. Figure drawing is all in the energy of the gesture. like is it a firm solid sturdy form or is it an energetic fluid form. as long as your anatomy is solid enough you're good

Again really /ic/ knows who to study.

ya'll nice as fuck damn. I'm used to totally different types of people nowadays. more power to ya. I only want to guide people in the right direction. my style specifically isn't something I try to teach since it's pretty simple and not nearly as impressive as some stuff out there. when you learn the basics and understand them enough things like style are much easier to understand and emulate. though still difficult for sure.

I don't know about the anon that asked you in the first place, but I get a lot of mixed messages on /ic/.
I'm scared shitless to "learn" stuff that's either counter intuitive, hinder me in the long run straight up wrong.
As a matter of fact, I asked how I could combine gesture drawing and Loomis' construction methods (I want to point out that I don't really know anything substantial about both). All it did is make me even more confused on how to approach anything. >>4412954

Lon is technically not 4chan, he's from Lulz.net and constantly bounce from site to site after getting caught in controversies HE played on. On Lulz he posted CP(drawn and real, a few posters on there confirmed but the godawful mods there will delete any and all new posts there) he then came to 4chan. He then stirred up more controversy and burned himself playing with fire as people starting digging around and noticed his hypocrisy and other skeletons like on what happened on Lulz, scamming on Patreon/comms, etc. He runs away again to other sites like newgrounds where he continues the same act. He deletes any posts criticizing him, lies on multiple sites at the same time, etc. I think that's the gist its a whole mess.

holy crap lois.
You're and absolute beginner, just stick to the basics. read the sticky, practice some exercises to develop your artistic imagination and visualization.
BUT! I don't mean that you should only stick to exercises. One of, if not the most important piece of advice I can give you right now is that you need to keep drawing what you love, and keep on doing finished drawings, that's by far the most important thing you can't lose this early on.

There's a book called Beauty that goes over this. The difference between art and pornography is like a good friend compared to a prostitute. A pornographer creates his craft purely for the sake of money, appreciating none of the subtleties that comes with a real person. While an artist will hopefully find beauty in a relationship or fantasy that comes directly from the unconscious mind. Oftentimes you'll see people bound by necessity in the medium, taking none of the actions a real person would. There's a lot of grey area in this, but I can tell you pornography of children's media is the sign of a stunted anima. Women have much inner beauty that is not explored in a visceral horror. I do not claim that this could not be art, but generally it is not. This is coming from someone who didn't know that difference, and struggled to produce beauty where it did not exist. My only regret is that I saw it sooner.
