anatomy is not the issue. the piece is not bad at all, but it could be elevated even further. the pose could be pushed to inject a bit more life into the character. for instance, he could have had one foot resting up on the window sill or have his hand, fingers spread, instead hovering over his face to shield his face from the sun. even timid boys have a lot of energy, so drawing them expelling that in some way, you can't go wrong

Revisiting old chapter's unfinished color pages. Since I probably not going to continue staying at SmackJeeves with my projects, I am cleaning up some of my old project files to make them more portable to work on. Some of the older chapter page files contain multiple scan of old rough drafts, causing some of these page files to be as big as hundreds of megabytes each. By deleting the raw scans I created a more lightweight version of my project files. I am kind of a flake, so I was never really consistent on my quality or deadlines. Sometimes I just decided to post unfinished pages because its been too long between updates. I found that surprising amount of one particular chapter has already been colored, so I decided to go back to work on them a bit, and tidy up some continuity issues.

Her voice makes the character for me, I wouldn't like Louise nearly as much without her. Keepin it art related though, any problems you can see with it? I got thick skin, don't worry. The face moves nicely despite some wobbliness. I would say try to have a more simplistic design, because I can see you struggle with the volumes on the boobs, especially with the threads. I think I get that you are trying to capture exhalation by increasing the boobs size, but exhaling increases the size of the ribcage, not the boobs. So the boobs should have relatively the same volume at that point of view, but the whole rib should move a little forward.

it's the overall shading and environment. There's a lot of variation in style when it comes to manga, but there's always a certain look they do when it comes to screen toning and shading. Study some gritty manga like pic related since that's what I'm assuming you're going for.

Proportions, anatomy, gesture, line work, FORESHORTENING etc. etc. etc. work on those too.

I've never set up a perspective grid before... I used to copy lots of Trigger / gainax animation frames. I should probably read that Scott robertson book, after James gurney.

I really like the Sakura Micron PN, it's fast, durable (the tip doesn't wear out), and doesn't seem to bleed with markers like the normal microns. Otherwise Staedtler is the best hands down.

For markers anything will do for a test drive. I'd just buy a set of gray scale copic sketch markers (warm or cool tone doesn't matter). If you like them, you can get ink refills later so it's like a mini investment.

Also, I just use smooth copy paper, get the paper that's a little thicker / smoother and your markers won't bleed as much and your pen tips won't wear out. Rough sketchbook paper is essentially sandpaper on those micron nibs. I use 80lb, but you could probably go thinner just for practice.

hello i draw sometimes my drawnings are collored photos of sketches, so >>4384462 just the photo quality of your art bothers me, the stylization is okay, try keeping hands the same lenght, wait for camera to take focus, and adjust contrast and make sketch black and white maybe, it often helps, rest seems okay, but again blurry

Thoughts on these head tilts? I wanna keep their necks small, but that's cause a problem since there's that "shelf" that separates the bottom of the jaw from the neck, and in the back the neck doesn't follow the cranium, but I figure the insertion for the spine, the atlas would be much lower to make it work. If anyone's found a creative way to address this and they know how to make it look good, I'd love to see it. Same for where characters tilt their heads up.

Don't have any at hand right now but look for those image coloring/rendering tutorials and look for korean artists (they optimize the shit out of their drawings). You also need to understand the form to be able to render quickly or you'll spend more time trying to get something right than doing anything else.

Basically I could just draw a parallel line in between one of the hatch lines on the right plane. But that alone won't make it a better drawing. A better composition, or better hatching in general would be worth talking about.

Looking at the body, you have very big holes in anatomy knowledge (the shoulders area is a blob with arms and neck attached to it, there's no deltoid muscle, no clavicles, the shape of the hand shouldn't be symmetrical). Her right arm is excessively long, no line confidence presents everything in a much worse way. I would guess you haven't put more than a few hundreds hours into drawing, so keep drawing everyday, consider following a course from the video courses thread. It's possible to improve drastically in a year or two. Good luck anon
