but if you draw what you remember then you're just drawing from the reference in your head instead of a reference in front of your eyes.

yes i very much understand this and am conflicted by it.... it bothers me. Getting a true unadulterated art work

this is the purest form i can do

no matter what there is always influence or some form of recall in artwork what the person sees and experiences in a life reflects in their work i believe a trend forms, patterns form, you can see a person when they work like this even if they are using their imagination to create

its a product of their experiences and quite a challenge to break free and see new from nothing

i copy a lot of pictures its very much therapeutic as you know and understand what comes next in the artwork, its right there infront of you to see

but ive seen other topics active here, even one right now about an artist who can re do a picture pixel for pixel

its not about standing out or not or anything for that matter

i dont even come to /ic/ im just upset by the things i see here

ive seen autistic people taken up in helicopters to view the city scpae and then recreate it from their brief moment in the helicopter

art is a mix of born talent, learning, observation and imagination

There is actually, I tried and it's pretty damn challenging to create something that looks good and stands out enough to be recognizable. But now that I think about it, maybe that's not your style. You seem to do good with what you have, your range of sources of inspiration is concise and clear.

this. even original work is just subtley stemmed from what is known by the artist whether conscious or subconscious. everything in fantasy can be linked to a real life origin.
