Been doing those while standing, with paper sheets glued to the wall for over 3 weeks now. The idea, according to me, is to have my eyes and hand memorize what I believe to be the 36 key angles in the vision field (0, 10, 20... 360). I do those freehand, using only a protractor to mark the dots, before placing my pencil in the center and trying to draw perfect lines with the fewest strokes possible. I'm not sure if I am good enough already to get past this self-implemented excercise, before getting into drawing the cube and it's rotations.

Holy fucking shit dude, this is why drawabox is a meme. You don't need perfect lines, almost nobody can do perfect straight lines. That's certainly impressive but please just focus on getting construction down and then start drawing, dont grind mindlessly like this.

if you dont know shit why would you design your own curriculum absolutely retarded just go draw cubes sperg

Curiously, I got the idea of getting to memorize angles and draw perfect lines BEFORE I learned that drawabox was a thing

I know some shit, I'm trying to draw furry lol

Speaking of which, is there any good tutorial for drawing furry heads out there? All I have found is super-basic stuff along the lines of "draw circle, draw normal head, then add muzzle"

This isn't the worst thing in the world, don't focus on dumb shit like perfect straight lines or whatever. Do the first 2 lessons on drawabox until you get a decent grasp, then move on. Don't bother with the 250 boxes or whatever, its useless if you aren't a normalfag who can't understand converging lines. Figure out proportions, read Micheal Hampton, watch his Analytical figure drawing series, and always do a little bit of warmup with cylinders and boxes. Loomis is a good artist but his book fucking sucks.

Thank you! I have those books already. But, anything for furry heads? Those are the hardest thing imo

They just don't hold up anymore compared to other books. It's a lot of stiff measuring and such, which works for his very idealized magazine covers and whatnot, but most people want to draw fluid, interesting poses that aren't so constrained to reality. That, and a lot of word soup that you don't really need.

Loomis isn't bad, it's the book a lot of professional artists started with. But Hampton is better.

I have Hampton. Does the book teach how to draw the head using construction similarly to Loomis? I haven’t gotten too far yet

I just... I just.... I just want to develop protractor eyes, being able to tell an angle just by looking at it, so that when I compose a priori, I may actually draw the coordinates my mind thinks of

bruh... later on you have to draw ccurved-lines, ellypses, circles, e.g. too straight lines are only usefull for mechs - - but still if your sketching ideads you dont need 100% straight lines the idea holds itself.. start drawing boxes..if you rely to eavy on your straight lines, your heart will fall into grits and see all these holes called circles and ellypses..... you have to do the same again for flowy lines if you keep that mind-set- straight lines you improve while drawing other stuff in perspective....

No OP. What a waste of time. If you really cared about drawing a perfect straight line that much just use a ruler. Plus you dont need to learn to draw a line in every direction. All you need to do is learn how to draw 1 line in 1 direction, and when you need to change the angle you just rotate the paper. Lmao OP stop wasting time and go study something else.

Aaron Blaise has a youtube channel that is pretty good but not all that instructive. You kinda just watch the dude draw and he sort of assumes that you already can draw.
