You have to use the sight size method.

You ask a bullshit question and want decent answers?

What you need to do is learn how to draw at all, practice for years, specialise in figure drawing and portraits, learn how to digitally paint, learn how to paint decent lighting then put it all together to paint a portrait of a white looking woman playing a flute in asian clothing.

those "how to draw x" videos on youtube are immensely popular. people want to be shown step-by-step how to do something so they can recreate it. it's like they think art is a prescribed recipe that you follow exactly and an artist's job is to discover these secret steps for others to copy. it's really weird these people even exist, but you've got to just shrug it off.

Practice, study the fundamentals, and have no fear of drawing even if it will look bad at first, with time your work will shine if you truly dedicate yourself to it.Good luck.

To be fair, I'm prety sure those people don't mean harm, they're just used to see something amazing done 'simply', as if it required no effort and they just wonder how to do it out of ignorance and possibly hope that there's actually a secret noones sharing with them.

Op here. This was actually a bait thread.

But feel free to post actual practical advice, and magically turn this shitpost thread into something useful. Nobody's looking for a shortcut, but laying out the arduous path is useful for the goal oriented.

1. Tight value control, which means two things: being super selective with where to introduce high values or contrast, and making smaller value changes than your brain wants to when depicting form.

2. For shadows, repeat the 4 magic words: hue shift and desaturate. If you want magic ruan jia lighting, go green. If it looks wrong you're making too large jumps in either of the two. For fancy chink detail like armor and jewelry, hue shift and saturate bright spots instead. Applies to head dress and flute in this pic

3. Head and hands construction. Hands are most difficult. The neck is /draw/ thread tier

4. Stop fucking around and actually stick with a piece.
