What is wrong with the lineart and the overall drawing? It feels rather stiff

I don't draw anime but heres some things i saw, i dont have a drawing tablet so i used mouse as i dont work digitally

1) shows more standard anime proportions (big forehead and big cranium, small face)
2) too many strands of hair, too complex for me personally
3) complex silhouette/outline vs simple and readable silhouette
4) hard to show with mouse but lack of line thickness/too flat

if theyre asking for critique then its already thousands times better than the other shit posts that end up here 'look at mah draweng'.

You lack the line talent gene but got eyes that recognize quality. There is no hope for you.

anon, sorry to say but you clearly don't know enough to effectively critique someone on facial structire, whether anime or not... out of all the subjective stylisation in the OP, the one thing that can be said to be unarguably wrong and jumps out to me straight away is that her brow ridge at the nose is somehow an inch below her actual eyes, and not only did you not correct that, but copied it into your "redline"...

I think the drawing lacks difference in line weight. Use line thickness to guide the eye and create flow.

Blessed anime poster, don't listen to these idiots and keep asking for critique outside /beg/

There is not a single compound curve in the whole thing.

Guys stop making fun of him.
He's obviously been endowed with the unfortunate case of T50 eye color which means he naturally can't draw well.

The hair has no F L O W
It's all stiff, solid lines, when it needs to flow smoothly across the head

compound 'S' curves are needed.

The issue is with the line weights. I have the same problem. I'm not sure where to start because I don't know how to configure brushes.

I make a base lineart in a first pass and if I feel like the lineweight isn’t right I just go over I again while either adding thickness or thinning them out. ez

I think you should try doing lineart on a larger canvas with a bigger brush instead of doing it with a tiny brush on a small canvas, and pay attention to the shapes of the character to make sure they flow together well

idk OP.
I kinda just winged drawing it. I don't think it's lineweight, maybe lack of construction?

What you don't understand anon is that when someone is /beg/, they are anchored down by 1 problem area in particular that mentally walls them off from progression. This one cannot do hair unless he can feel it.

Some of the issues have to do with the drawing itself and others are related to line weight. Usually you draw the outline with thicker lines and the details with thinner lines. I tried inking over your drawing real quick to show you what I mean about the line weight. The only thing I really changed was the distance between the eyes and the thickness of the neck (Also added some blacks and grays) but other than that I tried to keep it close to your original drawing. It can help to play with the pressure sensitivity of the brush and tweaking the stabilizer (if you're using CSP).
