why is drawing in digital so hard? GODDDDD
i know i suck /ic/. i know. ive been critiqued here so hard in 2018 rhat ive given up 10 times, and havent been drawing consistently since spring.

but pleae tell me.
why is it so HARD FOR ME TO DRAW NON SLOPPY IN DIGITAL
i try building my figure like they showed me in fun with a pencil but i keep fucking making it look sloppy and then i give up.
i could show you my "best" digital piece but im warning you its trash, my mind cut corners and my garbage ass brain went back to some symbol drawing i believe, and that was back in 2018

how do you people do it.
why are you people so magical. why must garbage ass cretins like me suffer while my friends go from "trash" (i dont wanna be jerk to them) to good?

the sticky is ambiguous, and ill be honest i got discouraged from finishing keys to drawing because one of the exercises i did was awful and it was hard for me to maintain my patience

ill be honest man i fucking hate myself, i just wanna be relatively decent at drawing right now right now so i can have more confidence.

how do you people do it.
when did digital click for you
when did traditional click for you

i wish i can have my brain prodded open by scientists, analyzed, and modified so i can draw some goddamn shapely women. fuck.

>the sticky is ambiguous
its just a mashup of theory and links composed by an anonymous person you dont know on some obscure 4chan board, so it's not a certified source of absolute knowledge; if its not working for you - close it

>i got discouraged from finishing keys to drawing
if you dont like the book - dont read it; there are plenty of other books out there

>like they showed me in fun with a pencil
drawing books don't "tell you" how to do anything; they merely propose a way of looking at thinks and simplifying 3d forms. if a method doesnt work for you - dont use it.

>so i can draw some goddamn shapely women
its good that you focus on drawing the stuff you enjoy, but dont fixate on it, if youre frustrated by how your animu girls look, give yourself a break and go draw a tree. or whatever

>went back to some symbol drawing
if you feel like youre lacking in some areas, tackle it and fix it; if you feel like you suffer from symbol drawing, go study reference; dont just sit there and complain

to sum up: you need to use your intuition sometimes, dont act like drawing is a bunch of people forcing their methods upon you and its not working; do whats best for you, not what other tell you to especially when its a bunch of faggots on 4chan

and

relax

You know there's a story of a prisoner who was kept in a prison surrounded by a hundred walls. One day the prisoner decides that he won't rot in there anymore and plans an escape. On the day of the escape, he goes out to the yard and goes to the carefully chosen blindspot and starts scaling the wall. To his surprise the guards remain oblivious of his escape, and the only thing that stands before him are the one hundred walls. The prisoner begins to jump up a wall after wall after wall, until he loses count of how many walls he has passed and how many remain. Exhausted, and becoming paranoid from the feint sounds of sirens in the distance, the prisoner concludes that he won't make past the remaining walls. Demotivated, he faces backwards and slowly return to the prison, and into his cell. Unbeknownst to him, what separated the him from total freedom at that decisive moment was a singular wall, the 99th wall. The only thing that stopped him was his own doubt to proceed forward.

The ”dunning kruger” here

I am not good art , i am acttualy worse than most if not all (exept the one i criticised) artists that where posted there.

but the picture in that you say is ”10 times better” is only one step above ms paint trash in my opinion.
I think its more of a case of me undervaluing the critiqued piece than me thinking mine is good

The answer is mileage. I was like you when I started. Read all the books and did all the exercises but my art was still mediocre. The thing is, it’s very easy to “know” how to draw but it takes quite a bit of time to learn how to draw. You can know the name of every muscle, how to project two dimensional designs into three dimensional perspective, color theory, etc but that doesn’t mean you can actually draw. FZD’s “Just Draw” video and some of the draw a box “draw 200” challenges helped me a lot in terms of just putting in the mileage and practicing a shit ton. And once you start getting your mileage in a lot of other things start clicking for you, stuff you already knew but didn’t have the experience to implement before. Just draw a lot, keep asking yourself questions, study artists you like, etc. Don’t give up.

I'd argue that digital is a entirely different discipline to traditional drawing, and should be classed as such. As clay sculpting is to traditional drawing so is that of digital drawing.

OP
ART IS HARD
THE COOL ARTISTS YOU SEE ONLINE ARE THE END RESULT OF A SHITLOAD OF MILEAGE
IF YOU GIVE UP YOU ACTUALLY DONT STAY STILL, YOU ACTUALLY REGRESS AND YOU WILL HAVE TO PUT MORE TIME TO GET BACK WERE YOU WERE AT FIRST PLACE
SECOND HARDEST PART IS COMING TO TERMS THAT THE THINGS YOU PRODUCE WILL BE ALL AROUND EXTREMELY BAD
HARDEST PART WILL BE DEALING WITH NO APPARENT PROGRESS DESPITE PUTTING THE TIME
BOTH OF THESE THINGS HAPPEN TO FUCKING EVERYONE, HAPPENED TO ME 26 TIMES ALREADY THIS WEEK AND IS FUCKING TUESDAY
THE MARK OF A REALLY ARTIST IS SHEER AUTISMO STRONG ENOUGH TO NOT GIVE TWO FUCKS ABOUT THIS AND PUTTING MORE MILEAGE
WATCH ALL OF THIS, JUST HAVE IT PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND AND LISTEN, ALL OF IT. DO IT
