Yeah, the pacing was the biggest strike for me, since their budget got slashed for the second half and they scrambled to make it work. It moves really fast for a 2000's anime, but maybe too fast. Hitomi is as bland as they come. Also I just couldn't give a shit about any of the villains, especially that fucking edgelord Dilandau. But god DAMN the animation is great and the mech designs are real nice.

To be honest and fair, though, I'm probably remembering more of the butchered and confusing English version. And the movie, which was fucking weird. It's probably time for a rewatch.
