If I'm not mistaken, this will mark a full year since I joined /ic/ and /beg/ and started to learn to draw. The Krampus drawing on the bottom was finished 2 days ago.
I'm kinda disappointed with my progress, my stuff still looks flat and I lack perspective, but I think I have developed something that can be called style. I really intensely regret that I've stopped drawing for about 3 months, could had achieved a lot more progress.

Last thing I had finished before stopping was the character with rosy colored hair and antlers. Pregnant baphomet was the very first thing I've finished when I went back to it.
I was depressed and enraged with a bunch of stuff going in my life, drawing her wih those wavy lines helped me get over it. The pregnancy has uh, a bit of a symbolic meaning.

Thanks! I don't think I've done anything special other than reading the sticky on beg and practicing poses/copying photos until I improved my hand coordination, which is really shitty. Copying pictures from artists I like also helped.
I've read half of bridgmans book, but I had a no patience to do all exercises because I get burned out really easy. I've done a bit of everything so I don't get tired or bored, sometimes it's really hard because of depression and stuff.
I tend to overcompensate for my lack of skill at basic stuff by spending a lot of time on everything I draw and I only consider it finished when I achieve a result that is very close to what I have in mind, no matter how much time it takes.
I lack grinding more fundies, gonna try to improve at it this year.

A pretty normal diet, I just don't eat much at breakfast. Drinking and eating greasy stuff mostly at weekends after I get laid.
I don't go to the gym, but that's probably compensated in a way, I have a low wage job at a geography and statistics governmental organ (it's also the reason I got pissed and stopped drawing for a while). My daily work gets me walking around at a minimum least of 3-5 hours nonstop, at brutal days I get to walk 6+ hours doing stuff. At weekends, I rest for a day and then at sunday I either date or go have fun somewhere, and maybe walk for 4 more hours.
My reason for being depressed is mostly because I got overburned from studying to get a graduation at 2 different places and it was an absolute waste of time, effort and life.
I can't explain properly, but I feel anxious about starting to draw, sometimes about finishing a drawing, moving on from a sketch to inking. I feel like I'm going to fuck up, that my effort will be for nothing, that my end result will be an ugly drawing.
I tend to get stuck at simple stuff like sketches and insisting on polishing a very rough sketch for hours, so I don't grind fundamentals properly.

Pic is very related. Sorry for blogging.

>A pretty normal diet, I just don't eat much at breakfast. Drinking and eating greasy stuff mostly at weekends after I get laid.
If it's anything mainstream normal then you should re-evaluate if it's not worth to give other things a try. The reason why I asked what you eat is because you are what you eat. My mental health got better once I got into keto. I have more energy as well and don't suffer from this fatigue that would occur through the day.

Linked below is a pretty good video about the benefits of keto...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjKEiUGgWEI

...and here's a channel that has various informative videos about food affecting your body/brain etc.

>My reason for being depressed is mostly because I got overburned from studying to get a graduation at 2 different places and it was an absolute waste of time, effort and life.
I know that feeling. I had a similar experience that threw me into the NEET dome for half a decade.

>I can't explain properly, but I feel anxious about starting to draw, sometimes about finishing a drawing, moving on from a sketch to inking. I feel like I'm going to fuck up, that my effort will be for nothing, that my end result will be an ugly drawing.
That nagging feeling of losing even more valuable, irreplaceable time, aye? You have to make it a habit to remind yourself why you are doing it in the first place and what your goals are.

>I tend to get stuck at simple stuff like sketches and insisting on polishing a very rough sketch for hours, so I don't grind fundamentals properly.
Try out setting up a timer with an alarm sound to snap you out of that "gotta polish that turd no matter what" mindset. It's an unhealthy habit.

All in all, pic related. Start small with a "healthy" habit and move on from there.

Thank you. You're right about my proportions and sense of depth, recently I've been trying to push perspective in my pieces to help with the latter but unless I put all my effort into focusing it just doesn't click with me. I think it's just a matter of experience at the moment so I just have to keep practicing. i dont read any book, what i did was creating my own construction, using other artists as a base, it can be anything, circles, boxes, even trianges or a combination of everything, something that help you to see forms more easy.

The foreshortening on the arm is a bit fucked, especially when it comes to the size of the gun and the hand, but the pose shows you're developing a good understanding of weight and balance, especially in the legs. Keep pushing yourself to do dynamic poses.

In the olden days of /ic/ despite 4chan being an anime website, drawing anime was heavily looked down on. Back then I was a much weaker artist and didn't understand why but looking through this thread it all makes sense now.

Anime doesn't teach you anything, it is a style that is entirely focussed on aesthetics and not on fundamentals.
You cannot draw good style without fundamentals. Your gesture sucks, your colour sucks, your values suck, your rendering sucks, your use of texture and light and expression all suck! Stop drawing anime, it is a dead end path that will not lead you to gitting gud, your drawings will always be mediocre if you do not turn back around and learn art the traditional way

Generally? Sure.
Over the course of just one year? Unlikely, unless you're just starting out (easier to visibly improve at the beginning than later on) and put a ton of time and effort into it. Most of the time, there is improvement but it's gonna be more subtle. Getting good at art is not for the impatient.

That's actually decent progress for a year (assuming the new one is on the left), but you really need to take better pictures of your art.
Also, might want to consider a different medium for coloring than colored pencils, or else look up some tutorials on how to use them properly. That scratchy look makes your piece look a lot more amateurish than it needs to be.
