I am buying a new pc in the upcoming month. I am editing a lot of photographs in hd with tons of layers so I usually work in 300dpi and circa 30000x30000resolution. It's very laggy at the time especially when I have internet browser and some other 3d program in the background. My budget is around 1500€. Is it enough, and what's the most important aspects of fast performance (clicking in between various programs and browsers with no waiting) for pc in 2020? also, how is the newest photoshop holding up so far for you? give me a quick the pros and cons rundown since I am still using CS6.

>hur drr! working in such resolution si so reterded1! just lover your res bro!

I prefer to draw and paint in at least 10x lower specs, but my job as a photo editor requires these ridiculously bigass dimensions.

>is 1500€ enough
Dunno, I spent about 1000€ three months ago and honestly the pc is pretty underwhelming..
Focus on CPU and RAM, without a doubt. ~32G ram will enable you to have a huge canvas with tons of layers, a fast CPU will for example prevent operations like filters or color grading from being laggy and taking ages to load.

You don't really need a fast GPU unless you also do 3D or play games.

I am planning to buy Gabens headcrab with index controllers to fully enjoy new half-life and portal games, so it's pretty important too.

you just know valve are gonna lure you in the upcoming 10 years with all this nexgen episodic content, not only from half-life universe, until you surrender and buy a headset for yourself too. they are gonna make a shitload of money since their index controller technology, where you can control every finger separately in various degrees of banding/grasp things, are the best alternative. so I am just want to skip all that frustration and buy it now.

do you goys have any experience with these controles regarding 3d sculpting?

you could buy a really fast drive like intel optane and use it as a scratch disk,

yikes not even ruan uses 30k nowadays, you've probably been meme'd. 8k and 16gb ram is the most you should need as a photo editor since shit like huge ass prints that go on buildings are upscaled anyways with software.

If anything artists should need way more ram since the brush engine should run as smooth and snappy as possible even when using over 50 layers, but no it is not needed at all.

>>4251533
You guys who run slow have probably some different issues, hardware, photoshop settings, background apps, etc. 10k and 8gb ram runs seamless up to 15 layers, and that's with heavy painting and complex brush use.

>> No.4254046

30k x 30k that's fucking ridiculous.

Ask Nasa where they got their hardware.

Talking about this..I'll be travelling soon so i need to buy a laptop.
My current desktop specs are windows 8.1 - i7 4790 3.60 GHz - 16 GB RAM - GTX 760. So i need a laptop at least as good as this with a budget of 2k at most.

The one i have my eyes on is the thinkpad p53. what do you guys think¿?

but why? I don't even mind the heavy use of texture overlays because they don't stick out as much. But that bloom looks as if someone took a photo of the painting with flash on.

i have a laptop, 12 gb of ram, photoshop cc2019 lags with pressure on brushes, everything else works fine but i cant paint shit and no performance settings can change it. i even tried to install previous versions till cs4, nothing works, lag is the same
this was not an issue on my previous pc with lower specs but on windows 8.1. i dont know if windows 10 fucks with photoshop since even my school's versions actually crash all the time by simply switching tools and those are 100% legal copies
any other program i've tried and used works fine (clip studio, sai, krita)

I have studied graphic design on imacs for 5 years.

Photoshop crashed,
Illustrator crashed,
InDesign crashed ALL THE FUCKING TIME,
After effect crashed (especially using the 3D plug-ins),
Maya crashed,

I don't know who invented that idiom "macs never crash" but holy shit can he go and eat a giant dick.
