Why is studying fundies considered so necessary when so much soulful art is technically flawed?

>> No.4246182

Soulful means absolutely nothing. Most of us study the fundies because we want to achieve a certain level of integrity, not shit out some caveman painting and call it a day

sadly this, I would have been satisfied with my current (low) level of work but I do realize that it would be 10x better if my fundamentals were more solid.

Studying fundies isn't necessarily about reaching 100% technical accuracy with every piece, it's about being knowledgeable and skilled enough to do what a piece needs. Fundies allow you to create anything, whereas without fundies you'd be shooting blind hoping to create something worthwhile.
It'd be like asking why you need to learn recipes to learn how to cook of so many pros don't use recipes. As a beg you don't have enough knowledge to freestyle, whereas the pros basically have hundreds of recipes memorized as well as the understanding behind those recipes to allow them to freestyle shit.

Ic thinks art is based necessarily on technical skills. In fact museums and "the art market" fancies genial dilettantism and expression over drawing skills.

Almost everyone on this board hates museums and low skill art. Nobody here is denying that shitter art makes dumb dosh, but nobody is here to really make dumb dosh either.

Everything is art. Mangas, Rembrandt, Beuys, Bob Ross. So the term art is pointless.
What you call highskill-art is often just illustration, uselessly fixated on imitating reality, without delivering an artist position.
Is Picasso or Francis Bacon art in your eyes? Funny perspectives and fucked up hands.

Picasso knew his fundies though. He's the "learn the rules then break them" poster boy

Picasso stole/traced over his father's work for his realism and said "fuck faking realism I'll just draw in muh style lol"

Look at their work it's uncanny how they're exactly the same from the style down go the brush strokes choices

Art with apparently no technical skills is the plebfilter par excellence: Everyone can do this, even my six year old daughter.

You don't know me. I don't care about art with low technical skill and high artistry or meaning the same way I don't care for incredibly technical art of boring or pointless things
>s Picasso or Francis Bacon art in your eyes? Funny perspectives and fucked up hands.
It's absolutely art. Not art I like, but undoubtedly art.

And how would you judge the cubistic picasso, if you wouldn't know the virtuous early picasso?
Or Francis Bacon or Neo Rauch?

Lots of popmusic isn't on a high technical level and nearly no one cares. The Beatles>Progressive-Rock = Rembrandt

You need to learn the rules before you break them

Yea sure , you may someties break fundies , for example , if you wanna draw intentonally off perspecive to create the feel of something manipulating reality itsself or something

But breaking fundies works way better when you already know them

Picasso knows his geometric shapes when a /beg/ would badly chicken scratch a triangle.
