I don't want anyone to quit outright, but you have to understand that being a freelance artist, even if just for fun, requires knowledge of marketing and the internet and sociology on a higher level than where you're at. If you can adapt and learn then by all means swing for the fences, but if this is where you start tripping up then at least take some months to do preliminary research.

Websites are way larger than you think, there's so many corners wildly varying that your experience could vary wildly.
Examples: twitter
>You chose to interact heavily with the twitch promoted art streamers: Your community will be centered about a lot of young just starting out artists, a good amount of hugboxes, a lot of focus on cloutchasing and patreon, a lot of nerds and mainstream anime watchers and occasional drama.
>you chose to interact heavily with the sakugafriends: Your community would be more centered around aspiring animators, oldschool anime, less mainstream anime, and some inbetweeners from the industry, some parts of it are more hugbox than others, some are more serious
That's just two extremely specific examples. The people you interact with and circles you form will determine your experience there, if you don't want tumbleristas then don't interact with any of that.
