usually a combination. have you seen Naoki Urasawa's documentary series Manben? he basically goes to other mangaka and films their processes and interviews them about it. plenty still use purely traditional methods, but many others use a combination of traditional and digital. entirely digital is rare, but some combination of the two is common. photoshop or csp is way easier than applying tones manually.

It’s possible if you speak the language. I remember seeing some videos a while back where a foreigner was talking about their experience working at Ghibli as a background painter. Another vid had a lady who got hired as an assistant for backgrounds talk about her process. (She said everyone basically just traces photos)

Shakunetsu no Takkyuu Musume has a shittone of super awesome perspective shots. Those japs REALLY know how to get the gesture right without it looking like that one western comic of two guys going up the stairs. Tradd Moore is the artist, if i remember correctly. he was the sole reason that the 2015 ghost rider was fun to read- as soon as he stopped being the artist it lost its appeal.
