Why are so many of you torturing yourselves doing something you know you dont care about? If you dont like it, just quit. Art is one of the least profitable, most objectively useless hobbies you could have.

All talk, have you ever drawn longer than 30 mins ?

The longest Ive ever sat down and drawn something was this really shitty meme drawing that I spent 5 or 6 hours on. Worked on it from night till about 4 or 5 am during the weekend.
Looking back, i could crank out something better in less than half of that time. I knew it looked shitty approaching the 3 hour mark but i invested so much time into it already that i didnt want it to all be for nothing.

>> No.4215119

It's relative. If you enjoy drawing but get significantly more enjoyment out of another activity drawing will feel boring by comparison.
Most people would benefit from a dopamine fast.

>> No.4215154

the most I've done is 60 hours on a few pieces, usually its closer to 30, I draw daily from 2 to 6 hours a day usually 6. the hard part is making myself work on the important stuff instead of just doodling

I sit for 4+hours straight working on my art because I'm currently unemployed and procrastinating on other more practically important things.

I don't draw like I used to either.

Because drawing is the only way to escape this hell of existence. Every armored girl I draw, every bearded fuck I ref is me keeping myself on the run from death, but not of my body, but of what my twisted brain sees as the only source of happiness. I draw so I never have to wake up and kill myself.

if I quit I would just get back to it a year later and then id be mad that I didnt draw in that time

I drew when I was a little shit then stopped for 8 years or something then I drew for less than a year and stopped again and now im a couple years into drawing daily

I wanna do it if im having fun or not

The correct way to do drawing process is to draw things you feel comfortable with 30% of the time and have fun doing it. The rest of time you should spend on deliberate practice, maximize your pain so you actually explore the field IMO.

That's where you're wrong. Art is something I care about. My thoughts get plagued by questions like what if I am incapable of improvement and other questions I just can't have a solid confirmation on. I'm also slow and inconsistent having no clue how to fix it. I see other people do good and they make it seem like a breeze. It's not art I hate just these other factors that nobody else seems to have and I get self conscious for it.

Because lurking on /ic/ with the endless crab hordes has made it unfun. Literally just draw whatever you like, and how you feel. Skip the memes, the crabs, the ngmi, all of it, and return to your core. If it's a hobby, which for most people it is, regardless of ngmi memes, just draw what you like, regardless if it's bad or good, its for your own eyes and tastes not theirs. If you "want" to improve, just do it incrementally. The memes of, "I spend 5 hrs a day grinding on fundies because I wanna make it" is dumb. Most people will ngmi, and art as a career is a meme in itself. Just draw what you like, and only come back to /ic/ for some critique and references.

I dont feel much pleasure in anything in life. Art isnt as painful to me as other things and i have a desire to do something and be somewhere with it and that desire keeps me from wanting to pop a lead pill inbetween my teeth.

The thing with drawing is that, since you don't need to invest in expensive materials anyone can do it and this to the problem. You start by doodling at school letting your imagination flow, without techniques and then trying some ideas, maybe some character you saw in a cartoon and things like that. After a while, as you get older, you want to draw more realistic and go look for techniques to enable you to do it and end up leaving the ''draw for pleasure as a hobby'' for the ''draw for accuracy as a serious thing" and this leads to a no ending cycle of frustration to most people who don't have the ideal teachers, don't have the ideal materials, compare themselves to other people who have been drawing much longer and things like that. While this person may or may not acquire the skills needed to finally be able to draw what they want, they really don't have that much imagination anymore, past failures make them afraid of trying new things and little by tittle they draw less and less which prevents them from practicing their skills (that were not good to begin with) leading to more frustration and finally giving up and returning to the doodling here and there. Drawing is worse than drugs.

because first years of drawing is genuinely bad experience and you need to force yourself to do boring and ugly shit. It's smooth sailing after that, even if your art is objectively bad you still can start having fun with the process

Because you can change yourself to enjoy doing art. People are asking how others did it so they can try too, you just have shitty attitude.
For me example it was listening to podcasts or audiobooks while I draw and that way stress less about the actual drawing meaning I also enjoy it more.

"if you aren't enjoying drawing at this very moment you should quit drawing" is the epitome of /ic/ crab bucket.
