Screen tablets:

>Hand & wrist pain
>Shit screen (except Ipad pro)

>Visible lag fucks with your brain

Screenless tablet:
>Heroic male sitting posture (preferably on Herman miller chair you bought from selling your art)
>you feel the form with visualization
>encourages you to sketch on traditional media and then paint over with your tablet which keeps the great three: digital-media, visualization, and traditional-media, in shape THAT is the only way to attain "soul" and become a legendary artist.

Use whatever you want but I get more into a drawing with a screen tablet than a screenless one. Also those are non-issues if you don't buy a shit tablet.

holy fuck i thought i was the only one who had one of these, i had the medium variant and the drivers were ASSHOLE but the tip and surface were quite good and didnt wear out fast, also the pen had a AAA batery so it had nice weight to it which is something i personally like

No. But it doesn't matter anyway wich one you chose.
A valid point to consider is how is your daily life when it comes to drawing, and your precedents. If you used to draw a lot with traditional mediaor you already hace some experience with that, then the screen tablet is a valid option over the screenless. That is in fact a lot of the people, but the thing is that many people too don't really have a lot of quality and knowledge of drawing so when they chose the screenless tablet is not really matter.
In the end is just a matter of time and comfort.

I didn't even know that there is a larger version. I am using intuos pro m for the last 5 years, but pen tip and pressure control still feels better on this cheap battery stylus. I am considering to get kamvas pro 22 in a few months. Are the pens identical to wacom? What are you using curently?

OP here
i'll admit that Ipad is the only screen tablet worth getting. since you can draw from anywhere and there is no parallax and good screen/colors + it's slowly turning into a computer with photoshop being ported to it and a proper file managing system
but at home, on a desktop comoputer you cant beat screenless tablets.

so screenless tablet + Ipad pro + pen and keyboard to replace your laptop is the way to go

maybe i'll get ipad on blackfriday

yea I don't have Ipad so I don't know. But in 1 year from now it'll probably be fine. Until then you got scuffed photshop, procreate and other apps. And you can use it as a cintiq with some 3rd party apps anyway.
I'm gonna go to the apple store to give the apple pencil a try later to see how it is.

i used a wacom one medium for about three-four years and now i got an intuos pro medium. its phenomenal but the tip was wearing out so fast i had to sacrifice that beautiful paper like surface with some transparent plastic as to protect the nib, i cant get them easily where i live. the wacom one medium is like 100$ and i think its still the best tablet you can get thats wacom but entry level. sizeable, nibs dont wear out fast, drivers work with everything. in the end its the skill not the tool that makes the draftsman, you can adapt to everything if you want to

Is the iPad Pro 3rd gen worth it for general use + drawing with Procreate? Or would a gaming laptop be better? I saw that the 1TB version has 6gb ram and the others have 3-4gb? Does that matter?

There is absolutely nothing in all of existence that comes even close to the overall quality of the Apple iPad Pro.
Show me something with a better screen for a start.
The answer: None. Nothing comes close to the Retina Display.

Not sure wtf that is but the minimum Ipad model to get is the 12.9 inch pro otherwise you're wasitng time and money and better off with an intuos

13 inch is already small but it's fine because ipad screen quality is superb

Back around 2017 when I was browsing for a portable drawing tablet/pc, I tested every single option I had, and the 2nd gen ipad pro was so far ahead it’s not even funny. The only surface device that wasn’t inferior to a fucking asus vivotab note 8 was the 5th gen with the (then) new stylus, and even then it was ntrig garbage.
Cintiq had “portable” devices in the sense that you could put them in a bag and they would work for an hour or two without a power supply, but they weren’t what I was looking for.
>ice skating
It just feels like painting or using a brush pen, though, I don’t have any problems with it. It also preserves the nib, I haven’t swapped a single nib so far, and my intuos 5 touch would eat through 10-20 nibs in the same period.

I didn’t even know we got photoshop, but it’s around half the desktop subscription, though I have no idea how well it even works.
Not that I care, since procreate does 95% of the things that need to be done, and you have Artstudio pro, Paintstorm and a bunch of photo editing apps you can use to fill in the gap.
Procreate is also due for a big update sometime soon, and they have been closing the gap with every update.
You can also use it as a pen display natively with a Mac, no need for apps.

>>4209618
>gaming laptop
Why.jpg
You will have a self melting laptop that weighs 3kg with a shit-tier screen and useless battery.
There are some laptops with integrated pen displays, but they’re subpar for drawing from what few I got to test.
Depends on your needs, I guess, I know people using HP Z books and the like to work on, but you still need peripherals, and the screens are still fairly small unless you’re prepared to spend the big bucks for 17”.
On the other hand, a good workstation has almost limitless work potential , whereas the ipad pro does 1 productive thing extremely well, but is otherwise mostly a media consumption device with a great screen and surprisingly great speakers

Never had a tablet, is the 12.9inch enough for a main station, to use all day?
What specs should I get? is 64gb enough? Should I get cellular support or only wifi?

>> No.4210037

>>4210009
>12.9
It’s enough and I never had any issues, but I was coming from drawing tablets, so it might take some time to adjust if you’re used to a 27” cintiq or something.
Working with a ref on-screen takes some getting used to, but is also doable.
>specs
2nd gen is working fine for me, though the new one has a better cpu and the pen has buttons. The battery will probably also hold up better a couple years from now. Note that the cpu is a non-factor in 99% of the apps, you’d probably only see a difference when using big complex brushes in paintstorm or something. It might be a factor for photoshop, I haven’t tried it.
>64gb
I got the 256gb one, and 150 of those are movies, comics and PDFs, Procreate itself only takes up a couple of gbs. The 2tb icloud plan is around 10 dollars a month, so I keep all my large files there.
I came to to use it as my primary device and even then I would be fine with 64gb simply by not hoarding media I don’t actually consume, if you just need it for drawing, browsing and reading, 64gb is likely more than enough.
>cellular
I got it, but I never used it. It takes one press of a button to share my phone’s internet connection for some reason, and I can just airdrop whatever file needs sending to my phone if I really need to upload something right fucking then. I guess there are instances where it might come in handy, but I personally never needed it.

I unironically feel this way too. I've tried a few screen tablets but always go back to my good old Intuos 5. I can kinda understand wanting a screen tablet when I first started drawing digitally, it was a bit of a process getting used to the whole hand-eye thing, but now it's second nature.

>>4207533
Good god, that thing... I actually had a larger version of that when I first started! After I got my Intuos I realized how awful the Genius tablet actually was. Just like I realized how awful SAI was for line art after I got Clip Studio Paint (but it's still great for sketching and simple coloring). So can't say I agree with you there, anon.
