Popular means it has broad appeal. Generally appeals to specific niches contradict eachother, but appeals to your particular niche are far stronger and more relatable than broad appeal. So most popular things are mildly appealing to the maximum number of people, rather than maximally appealing to a select group (e.g. You personally).

Nobody else should like the things you like the most, and things everybody likes should be mostly inoffensive and boring. What would make it otherwise?

It's mass produced, has no meaning, has no story, it just looks decent to common folks and that's it. It has no value besides looking alright.

The theme of pretty girls is the most overdone, soulless and boring shit ever but it sells, the best comparison of that art is instant gratification. You masturbate because you want to feel good but it will make you feel worse later on, same with this shit, it's nice for now but will be left forgotten pretty quickly, simply because it doesn't have any value beyond being a boring pretty girl, which there are too many.

I find that works that get a shit ton of likes on twitter tend to actually feature some sort of story, interesting composition, idea or something among the lines. With that in mind artist in OPpic is probably the most soulless, uninspired and generic one of them all. Others at the very least bother to try and draw some sort of, you know, anything that's below the neck. That dude has been drawing the same fucking portrait of the same face over and over and over again for years.
