I mostly read over some of the sticky books (How To Draw, Steve Huston, Villipu, Anatomy for Sculptors, Bridgman, etc.) and try dissecting/studying the drawings.

Afterwards I'll grind figures constructed purely from imagination to internalize and apply what I've just learned. Basically like studying before an exam.

When I mentioned "art secrets", I mainly refer to more obscure books I managed to either pirate before they disappeared or just bought them from eBay/Alibaba/etc.
I also know a couple God-tier art instructors (Watts Atlier veterans I believe) who I was fortunate enough to meet at my local figure drawing group. They don't teach anymore but they like hanging out with newbie artists and giving them words of advice during breaks.

Hope this helps, happy grinding.

>tfw when improving every day because I autistically look at other people's art for hours trying to figure out how they do something I like
>tfw doesn't mean much because whenever I learn how to do something I get bored of it and stop using it
>tfw do art for the purpose of improvement, and have no love for my creations because they are missing a particular flair that I will find someday but not soon

I need to find that particular style, technique, tools, knowledge that will make me happy to just work on a piece of art instead of thinking about how my end result will be missing something. A very particular way of drawing that I will never get bored of and will always be satisfied by. I know it's out there. I'm not having fun but I keep going because I know one day I will have lots of fun, when I finally find that perfect algorithm

I believe we will make it bros, if you are dissatisfied it means you are not where you know you should be. If you find exactly what you're looking for you will always treasure it

I have a proposal to improve /ic/. One week bans for anyone who starts a thread themed around:

1. Self-pity (OP)
2. Whining about *insert popular artist here*
3. Why don't you just study _________ (coding, engineering, business, etc.) instead of art?
4. I'll never be as good as the Japanese/Chinese/Koreans etc! Waaah!
5. "Nononono!"
6. Famous artist misled me on purpose! (Because I watched all his videos but applied none of it.)
7. What if I get "canceled"?!

not that guy but it sounds like you didn't find any "secret resources," you just have clearer goals and you're centering your education on a smaller subset of skills than just the fundies overall. imo you should clarify where you want your art to go now if you want to improve further

>>4192249
do some artist studies in addition to fundie grind, and do some fun stuff every once in a while like art prompts or weekly challenges in a discord server.

Push through. For me, this nagging, growing feeling of a persistent "lack"--despite a measurable increase in ability--precipitated a huge breakthrough that's made drawing so much more enjoyable for me. I don't know when that might come for you, but I do think simply being aware of the lack of that certain something in your work puts you in a better place than those who never feel it. It really required deep introspection more than grinding. I realized I wasn't drawing the type of stuff that would inspire me if I saw it from somebody else. From there it was just a matter of taking a break from social media and shit to experiment.

Here are a few I can name:

Perspective and Proportion - Secrets for Artists by Christine Ivers (only available through DVD I think)

Aleksandra Yakobson Collection (rare compilation book of a Soviet artist whose style I found appealing)

Practical Anatomy for Artists by Peter Simpson

Some imported How to Draw Anime books from Japan (I normally don't care much for the anime style but some of those books have good resources on drawing appealing lineart, rendering, character design, composition, etc.)

I have other examples, but I'm too lazy/retarded to scan them to my computer. Most of them don't have previews online, except for some of the japanese How-To manga books from eBay.

Here's a site that categorizes mostly obscure stuff (including art books) from eBay/Amazon, this page in particular contains links to helpful books if you want to master appealing anime girls: picclick.com/NEW-How-to-Draw-Manga-Sexy-Girls-Characters-254117698688.html

Just click the homepage logo if anime pr0n isn't what you're looking for, you're very likely to find almost any rare art resource you could hope for.
Hope this helped.
