The point of flipping the canvas is that so neither side looks worse than the other. If the quality of your art fluctuates as you flip the canvas, then you have a problem.

I held an old drawing in the mirror, and it looked absolutely horrendous and vomit inducing. I did the same with recent pieces, and this was barely the case. I guess that means I've improved, but my old stuff was way worse than I could even see
