Day 24 bonus: vomiting Ocapon!

What are good programs for motion Graphics? After Effects makes me wanna die, Vegas is starting to make me equally mad.

After Effects is fine though. I make stuff with it sometimes and it's perfectly workable as long as you get into the layered mindset and not the clip mindset. I actually prefer it over Premiere now for general-purpose shitposting/video edits.
There's a bunch of shortcuts but the main one you need to know is just to press U to expand only animated properties and ctrl+alt+d to split the layer.
As long as your lrn2properties and fuck with the keyframe velocities you can get mostly anything you want out of it even before diving into expressions.

The problem is never achieving a result, but with troubleshooting small problems that shouldn't even exist.
- Manually setting my canvas to non-standard sizes - when starting AND when rendering;
- Figuring out why my colors were looking brighter after rendering, it had to do with colorspace (never happened before);
- Dealing with this backwards multiply composition that makes the out-of-bounds borders become masks that show up as black squares when I rotate the colored lines (webm related);
- Dealing with the same mysterious border when I turn the character layers using a parent, cause it becomes bordered as well for some dogdamn reason - maybe that's the "clip mentality" at play.

All of that in one simple bouncing chibi. I've had less headache animating frame-by-frame gifs on Fireworks MX 2004 or animating in Toonboom and compositing on AE/Vegas.

At the end of the day, I think I'll have to make amends.with AE just because at least I can find answers on Google if I'm patient enough to try 200 different solutions.
Thanks for your two cents, forgive my rambling and I shan't steer this thread any further.

Now is crunch time. If you are behind, draw draw draw. Set a timer and draw with full attention for the duration, take a few minutes break, do it again (pomodoro method). Stay hydrated. > "Shattered on a word - torn about and tossed below. Lying in the dirt, there's pleasure in the warped scar tissue that forms."

I decided I'd do something out of my comfort zone today. Even when I tried stuff htat I wasn't used to drawing I'd draw it the same way. Black lineart, stippling for colour, lots of little details like wrinkles and such. This day I wanted to do just shapes and colours.

I really like how you delineated the form with the white. You can remember this one for in your future stuff. Keep experimenting and trying different techniques, especially trying to imitate how others do things. It will take you to higher places. Then you can come back and apply them to improve your standard lines and stippling.

>> No.4181622

Ok so I've been doing inktober for the past 3 years, last 2 years were 100% complete.
This year I've been focusing more on the quality, and am currently at 21 drawings, while I may not 100% I am way more happy with the results compared to previous inktobers.

My question is was this the right approach? Or did I miss the point and should've aimed for D.A.D?

Well it was made in the first place for 1/day to foster daily drawing habit. But obviously you can do what you want. As long as you didn't set out to do one a day at first, and after failing rationalize it with ''I was going for quality not quantity'' / ''it's not a contest anyway''. As many tend to do. All I would advise is be honest about what you do

As others said, the original point of inktober is to foster a daily drawing habit. If you love drawing and it's not a chore and you do it regularly, I dont think 1 a day is necessary. Do what moves you forward. If you're drawing 31 images that aren't of a quality you are happy with just to get one a day then you're not moving forward. I think 21 images that you really worked at and that pushed you forward have more value than 31 just to get 31.

Good job. I really like the character shots like the forest and frog girl, and your comic panels are neat. Not a fan of the noodly arm tumblr style in some pieces and Steven Universe is like a warning sign for viewers to stay away. Seems like you could distinguish yourself a lot more if you ditched some of the /co/okie cutter aspects. Just a hot opinion, though I think you can reach farther heights in actual technical skill with more anatomically defined characters
