You need to start from scratch, first with basic forms and gesture drawing. To be blunt, you lack the skills required to implement your vision and thus your drawing sucks. And all your drawings will suck until you learn the basics.

but his advice made sense
the book arm looked really weird being flat against his body, now it's rotated to a much more natural direction and his wrist looks less strained
his other hand is now placed resting on his leg instead of floating in the air
and his knees are now equal height as they should be when sitting on a level surface
the book also has a sense of depth now that it's tilted forward at an angle as it naturally would be, instead of looking awkwardly 2D

are you saying the advice made the picture worse?? makes no sense
