The aspirational Vietnamese consider fish eyes very low status, on par with having a tan. Very disgusting.

Before this thread gets pruned. Anime/mangaka eyes come from Don Rosa's Donald Duck. It's all about exaggeration for emotion. Same with American Cartoons/comics, if you read Little Orphan Annie and then read Peanuts with Charlie Brown or Garfield, you see that exaggeration
