Because when you’re upscaling everything, it’s gonna look like shit. Also, manga is Monochrome. B/W pixels looks like shit. The best pixel art is in color, and animated. Manga can do neither. It’s be good for unique illustrations for a videogame related manga, but not to draw every panel that way. Not to mention, drawing pixel art is tedious, as if manga wasn’t already hard enough work.

That’s the thing though, to draw authentic pixel art, you gotta do it at the right resolution, which is well below the 5000x3000 (A4) canvas you need for manga. So you’re gonna have to upscale from your pixel art size resolution, that you painstakingly drew pixel by pixel, only to have it upscaled and ruined by the transition.

lol are you on drugs? If anything pixel art is the easiest and most reliable way you could possibly upscale an image. In fact, I believe it's the only way aside from vector which you can guarantee the upscaled version will be 100% accurate.
