To quote Shirobako,
To draw faster, you need to get better. To get better, you need to draw a lot. To draw a lot, you need to draw faster.

Try not to picture the drawing in your head, otherwise you'll get too fussy about it.
I've found my quickest and also my best drawings to come naturally without thought, as opposed to when I'm trying really hard to translate an image in my head onto paper.
That's just me though, I'm sure it's different for other people.

youre asking to get good at fast drawing? pick subjects that dont stay in the same place long, forces you to capture them as quick as you can.

This, but unironically. Going slow seems to be the quickest way.

im just going to hijack this thread: is it a bad idea to learn how to draw starting with digital art?
i carry a tablet around for work and school which is why im asking.

i know someone is going to say "well then, just carry around a small sketchbook with you."
sure, i can do that but i prefer to have as little things to carry around with as possible.

Carry a smaller sketchbook? You all need is a pencil or pen and a sketchbook and an eraser.

It's better if u do practice with traditional but if u want to only do digital it won't be that bad, just make sure not to use that 'random line + undo' for getting good lines, just practice like ur using a sketch book

how to git gud (at drawing) fast?

how to git gud at [drawing fast]?

Which one is it, OP?

Yah want to draw fast or get good at drawing faster? Well OP the answer to your question is easy..

JUST FUCKING DRAW MORE YOU INSUFFERABLE FUCK

>> No.4122865

If you're talking about speeding up the amount of time you spend on a piece then a good way to do so is following through on the process of creating a piece in its entirety. I know this sounds contrived, but if all you practice is making rough sketches, then you get faster at just that, rough sketches. As you work and create you will get accustomed to the process, the steps necessary and the time you will need eventually becoming efficient. The sooner you bite the bullet tie down your drawings, clean, paint, etc the more accustomed you will become, the quicker you can produce.

I started digitally and my progress turned out alright. It's more about your interest in learning and drawing than the medium. If you are more excited about digital, go for it!!
