literally just this. if you dont like what youre drawing, then draw what you want to draw. if you can't think of anything, don't draw.
>but I want to draw, I just need motivation
no, you don't want to draw

>> No.4122068

I dunno but I'm more of a person that likes to follow a regimen. I want to be able to come on, to to my drawing board/tablet and just do what I need for X number of hours to improve. But there is just so many things and my head keeps spinning and I never end up doing anything.

While you're still largely in the learning phase that's probably desirable. At some point though you'd probably reach a level of skill that you're content with/can competently draw whatever you want without much difficulty, and at that point there's no point in continuing to treat it like a grind. Unless your goal is something nebulous like "getting better"

Good way to not be focused on your art. Hunger is a distraction both consciously and unconsciously, you’ll just make mistakes

>> No.4122096

Another tip that will greatly improve your drawings.

PROTIP #2

CRITICIZE YOUR OWN WORK THOROUGHLY.
Being a constructive critic for yourself will allow you to quickly break through repeating the same mistakes over and over.

Example: If your goal is to draw faces accurately.
Draw the face the first time using loose construction. Take a step back and zoom out of the drawing. Is it uncanny? Does it look wrong?
You should be able to discern the difference between an accurate drawing versus poorly planned one. If you can't then you need to revisit the loomis head construction and attempt it again.

Fundamentals are no joke. I'd say the most important ones are perspective and proportions for anatomy.

Protip #1:
Have a schedule of when to draw.

Protip #2:
Have a 10-20 minute stretch at the beginning for planning what to draw, what you want to achieve in terms of the plan, and assembling reference.

>Goals and contingencies are important. But they exist in the future and the past, beyond the pale of the sensory realm. Practice, the path of mastery, exists only in the present. You can see it, hear it, smell it, feel it. To love the plateau is to love the eternal now, to enjoy the inevitable spurts of progress and the fruits of accomplishment, then serenely to accept the new plateau that waits just beyond them. To love the plateau is to love what is most essential and enduring in your life.

There's no shortcut to mastery and success. Getting good is a long, slow process. There might be milestones and accomplishments along the way, but almost all your time will be in some form of plateau. Learn to love practicing what you're doing or find something else to waste your time on.

just draw faget
