How do you even use graphics tablets with screens like cintiqs and ipads without wanting to tear your eyes out? I used simple bamboos and intuos for a decade before deciding to try out a screen tablet and HOLY SHIT it was such an inconvenient hassle that I finally had to give up trying to make it work. The amount of cables, the inability to find a comfortable working position, the screen resolution differences fucking up my art programs, all of it sucked my enthusiasm out before I even started drawing.
The biggest issue was having my hand in the way. After working digitally for so long and not having to deal with looking at my hand while drawing, I feel like I lost IQ points trying to draw "normally".
Anons who use screen tablets, how did you get used to them? And how do you protect your eyes?

Turn down the brightness, retard.

As far as eye strain, staring at any screen for hours on end is bad. You need to let your eyes rest.

As far as the other stuff WTF are you talking about? So many cables? My pen display has one cable, which splits into HDMI and USB. That's it. Hand in the way? How the fuck do you hold your stylus that you can't see your drawing through your hands? How big are you hands?

Anyway, use what you're used to. Pen displays aren't inherently better, they're just preferred by tradition artists. If you've only ever drawn on normal graphics tablets then stick with those.

How do you even use paper and pencil without wanting to tear yours eyes out? I used simple analy expelled pigments of my own creation applied blindly with great force for a decade before deciding to try out a pencil with a piece of paper and HOLY SHIT it was such an inconvenient hassle that I finally had to give up trying to make it work. The amount of effort required to hold the pencil, the inability to simply shit out something in a minute and then sell it to a gallery, all of it sucked my enthusiasm out before I even started to google "drawing".

Having not one nanosecond of lag and not one nanometer of parallax between you and your work is terrible, I should dust off the tablet I never use and learn to love headaches and sore eyes again! It doesn't even feel like work since I'm having so much fun using real tools. Ew!

For screen tablets, is it acceptable for the cursor to be a couple millimeters offset from the pen, or does my Gaomon just suck ass?

what the fuck are you talking about? iPads are one of the best tool for drawing that’s out there right now, what would you plug it into?

This is the one fucking thing that screws me up when using screen tablets. Oh sure I can look at an entirely different area from where my hand is moving while drawing on a screenless no problem, but having the cursor just slightly fucking off from my pen while looking at the screen? Nah it's all gonna look like shit now.

Took me about 10 minutes to adjust to my 24" Cintiq. I have mine mounted to two Amazon swing arms, so I can move it around easily. Never had an issue with my eyes, and I spend hours using it.

It's a big change, give it some time to get used to it.
