>commsion artist for 2 art pieces
>give them clear instructions, tons of reference material, even make a revision on their base sketch to show what I want
>they completely disregard what I drew and just send the base image again inked
What do I do lads, I want to be positive but this is making me feel like cancelling

>> No.4114349

Be firm. You asked for revisions and you're the customer.

oh, go fuck yourself retard. man up

I sent them a polite message asking if they could follow the revision image closer and that I need it to look a certain way due to printing and they haven't responded. Granted its been less than a day but if they don't respond in a few days I'll tell them I need to cancel, that's fair enough right
>>4114353
If I am too abrasive they may just run with the money, at least that's how I see it. I was pretty pissed but I tried not to show it

curious about this, got a discord?

you shouldn't have payed the full amount off the bat btw anon. best rule is to pay half when the artist shows they have a bit of progress, and the other half once the image is complete/near completion (the artist should mark and mess up the image to make it unusable but to show that it is done or nearly done)

What's the rate for this piece? If you're being a nitpick on a 15$ piece you are in the wrong

I know I feel pretty stupid, at least I paid for goods and services so I can always chargeback if it comes to it
Discord is Spicy#6730
>>4114367
$129 for both pieces

Yea, if you're paying real money you have the right to demand the product is up to your specifications, ESPECIALLY if you're giving advanced notice of the needed revisions.

It would be one thing if you're asking them to change it when it's been finished, but at the sketch stage you're perfectly fine, and if they continue to ignore your requests it would be totally fine to cancel.

That's great too hear, I wondered if it was bad practice to draw over an aritst's sketch but at the same time isn't it useful to know exactly what the client wants? They didn't seem offended so I don't understand why they ignored it, they speak fluent english too and I even made sure I specified every change I made in text

I'll give them a few days and then ask for a cancellation, if they ignore that I'll chargeback

I don’t think you should chargeback or cancel since they’ve already done some work. I think giving them like $20 would be fair.

We're gonna have to see the pictures, anon

Does he have some terms/refund policies written somewhere?

As an artist, I charge 50% upfront, 50% after completion to the client's satisfaction. Most people just choose to pay 100% upfront.

In a refund situation I would ask to retain 50% of the money since I already had to do work on it, and you can have the high-res version of the unfinished product.
If you paid for 2 pics and it's still on the first one, just ask for a 100% refund on the second one and see what would be a fair amount to refund on the first one. Probably 50%. Although the sketch is only around 1/3 of the way through, he did go and work on everything else except the corrections to completion.

Also be sure you take screenshots of things if he wants to dispute your refund, particularly of him saying he would fix the things you asked for.

Why do you assume OP paid 100% upfront?

I'm willing to do that if they respond to me, I definitely want to compensate them for the work they have done. I don't appreciate being ignored though, especially as they were clearly online and all it takes is a simple yes or no to answer the question and it makes me lose trust in their professionalism

I paid all at once as a sign of good faith in them and their abilities
>>4114410
I don't think it'd be kind to have crabs tear apart their art, it's good enough quality to warrant their pricing

This is porn I imagine?

>> No.4114449

>>4114435
not OP but i think that yes, probably. Because sounds really weird that one artist just don't want to make corrections, i just could imagine a few scenarios:
>OP give to many corrections that change the original concept of the drawing, so the artists feel insecure in their ego to continue (totally natural)
>OP add things that the artist dont wanted to draw in first place, or looked "bad" to him (even this one couldn't be a probel if they were just a few, because is money anyway, so op have to add a lot of bad looking things.

If is sfw i think there is no reasons to deny the corrections, unless is those points but to the extreme, i dont that was the case.

Or i think the artist is just really in his safe zone, so OP by just adding a little things is hard to the artist

You didn't pay them 100% upfront did you? 50% before then 50% after right?

I also ignore my clients sometimes, but that's because I intend to talk to them once I've applied the changes.
Not very ideal, but it comes from me thinking "oh, this will take just a minute", and then the whole day has gone by and I haven't touched it, so now it's time to sleep and...

Well, just stay calm, art can be stressful, be a good learning experience to him so he might develop said professionalism in the future.
