Second at a lot of shiny stuff, turd polish, at texture filters, or what ever you can to get your art to look like this at like this, bare minium. A lot of bad artist with a lot go followers try to invoke sensory overload.

I had a following once there were some very aggressive fans shilling my stuff but I couldn't keep my inner troll in and pissed off the gay and trans community that's heavily attached with the fandom. No huge backlash or anything I just got bored of it all and withdrew and just focused on my art because I wasn't satisfied drawing the same shit over and over.

Unless you're really deep in a fandom or in serious need of money it'll drive you crazy after while it's like actors being type cast people only wanting to see the same thing repeatedly even though you want to do something else. If you can handle that though my advice is don't sell yourself short by doing super cheap art, it smells of scam and also shill like mad. when you start do a lot of freebie stuff for recognition and take care of your biggest fans and they'll shill for absolutely free. Unless you're really good at character designs it'll be even harder without some kind of group to appeal to. Make reaction images too people will start using them and eventually when they come across your stuff they'll recognize it and it'll make them more comfortable with commissions that and wall papers for multitude of devices and screen sizes. In the end of the day your biggest tool to make it financially off of art is marketing regardless of your technical ability.

The secret of making it is not being paralyzed by self consciousness and just keep going forward like a retarded autist even if everyone else and yourself is shitting on you and your work quality all while keeping an improvement mindset privately and making a conscious effort on improving your weak areas. Literally get into the namefag mindset and avoid the MUH STYLE trap internally.

There are a myriad of examples even on /ic/ about /beg/ shitters who made it just by being both constant, reckless and a pain in everyone's ass by their constant sheer faggotry.
