>like drawing
>spend years learning and drawing and growing as an artist
>still not all that great
>make new friend
>get him into drawing
>within three months he's improved more than I have in three years
>he surpasses me and is even doing commission work
Give me one reason why I shouldn't kill myself.

Fun fact: Mastershakes's eyes popping out is actually a sign of a "proper" hanging (where the hanging causes instant death via breaking the neck rather than suffocation) and that's why people that were executed by noose in the West had to wear hoods. To protect the audience from seeing their eyes pop out.

ask him how he's improving so fast.
he's probably drawing 4-8 hours a day instead of shitposting here .

Which I do not understand at all, because if you are already taking the time to see a public hanging, you probably want the whole schaudenfreud package. Plus if public hangings are supposed to set an example of criminal consequences, why the heck would you remove the most disturbing part?

That sucks man. I've been taking drawing seriously for about a year and I think I'm about to start producing pieces that I wouldn't be ashamed to show people, maybe I could even con someone into commissioning me although it would take me a really long fucking time to draw whatever it is. How much has your friend been practicing? Are you sure he hadn't drawn any before he started a few months ago? I've literally never seen a single person on this board who was commission-ready who claimed they had only been drawing 3 months.

Reminds me of my piano adventures.
>play piano since I was a kid
>the only hobby I had that time
>practice a shitton
>not a virtuoso but still decently skilled to be called good
>highschool friend who's never touched an instrument in his life picks up piano
>surpasses me in every single way within a single year
My whole existence is a failure. This is why I call horseshit whenever people say that talent isn't real. I don't even care anymore, but I still cry a little inside whenever someone compares drawing to learning a musical instrument. Yes, they're probably right. It's just like the piano. And that confirms that I have not a single fucking chance of making it, no matter how much and how hard I work towards it. I'd give up, but whenever I hear a disney song or look at old disney art, I get motivated and I feel like I must do it and I'd feel like dogshit if I didn't spend the next few hours practicing.

Well it's more of an issue of people having a justice boner and wanting it satiated but they don't want to see the gruesome result. Let's take execution via electrocution as an example. During an electrocution, you sit in another room and watch from a one-way mirror. But the smell of burning human activates the part of their brain that makes them have a "wait a minute" moment. And then they start getting empathetic and questioning the ethics of their actions.

TL;DR: People want justice but don't want to see the titty gritty of that justice.

Big deal. Why tf would you kill yourself if someone is more talented than you? By this logic everyone but one person should commit suicide.

Challenge yourself. Always change what you do. Never stick to one process, never settle for a shortcuts. Don't avoid something you cant draw. Learn it. Study, do a lot of studies, whenever you have the free time.

From what I've observed for years, the reason people don't improve is either drawing only when they feel like it (waiting for inspiration) or staying in their comfort zone not allowing themselves to make mistakes, or lack of self reflection. Chances are you don't practice correctly.

>> No.4056947

>>4056228
What a good answer.

Though, the reason why people improve so much faster than others is that sometimes they are lucky to have just come across the right information in the right order at the right time and it just "clicks". Also, they probably practice 8-10 hours a day, like many people do when they get obsessed.

That's your friend and he obviously found the right path.
