>update to cc 2019
>performance awful
>several seconds of lag when selecting layers
>workflow completely broken
I’m working in an office and it’s not mandatory but recommended to stay updated for sharing files. But this is ridiculous. Has anyone used this succesfully?

I dont even mind the completely random change of hotkeys or transformation tool settings. The changes to groups, later styles and clipping masks has improved my workflow the latest years.

Semi related but I keep getting a popup on my comp saying my current CSP (2015) won’t be compatible w/ future software updates of my comp. Is that true or just BS, since I pirated it?

I make a metric fucktonne of icons and logos and the layer styles, font engine and group handling is more or less necessary for my workflow.

Feels fucking bad not being able to just paint one layer files and changing software on a whim.

I just bought a new laptop so I've had to deal with windows 10 for the first time, everything is fucking sluggish compared even to my ancient 10 year old laptop

Takes countless hours of tinkering to make things somewhat functional, even Photos is trash and slow, went back to the old photo viewer and it's a little quicker, but what the fuck do we even upgrade for anymore?

So that these 64 GB of RAM don't just idle around, of course.

OP is probably fine staying on 2018. There's a bad CC edition once in a while, CC 2015 was just as bad. Just hope CC 2020 will be good again.

I found a cc 2015 cracked version lying around and installed it. Had a breakdown when the tablet caused this version to lag too. The old cc2018 install was gone and the shit i pulled from cgpeers made windows give more warning signs than fucking nerv headquarters when the angels show up.

I finished the day using the shitty 2019 version. Gotta find a stable shit next week.

Install Gentoo

Memes aside, Linux ain't half bad. Runs pretty nice on my toaster of a PC anyways.
I miss Windows 7 though lel

If your new laptop uses a mechanical hard drive, windows 10 will run like ABSOLUTE shit like it. It doesn't matter how good the cpu is, the mechanical HDD is what slows down the whole system.

I really think windows 10 was designed for computers with a minimum of 8gb of ram and a SSD.

>>4047517
I wonder if Photoshop 7 feels almost as lightweight as Sai? The reason Sai is so fast is because it's designed to run well on computers that run windows 98/2000. Because many Japanese people refuse to upgrade their computers if it still turns on fine no matter how outdated it gets.

The minimum specs for Photoshop 7 are a Pentium III and 128 megabytes of ram.

Krita runs like crap, Wine is awful, Gimp... is Gimp.

There is only MyPaint on Linux that isn't too bad.
Also, tablet support isn't native for non wacom tablets and for screen ones.

And if you have an AMD GPU, don't even think about it.

I like Linux but it's really not built for work. Half of the time you are on the internet searching for solutions about things that are so simple on Windows.

No Photoshop 7 only runs good on XP with APIC disabled otherwise the cursor will be all janky and jerky, forget also even in modern hardware to use brushes larger than 400-600px even if it's just the round brush, it only uses less than a 1GB of RAM so forget about working in high-res.

PS is produced for photo touch ups, and extreme photo manipulation. You can not expect such a powerful tool to run as smooth as SAI or Krita. Adobe abandoned the digital art community after the release of CS6.
Use early builds of CS6 or late builds of CS5 for art. There is no getting around it without an insanely expensive pc.

Granted that you can use lazy nezumi to fix alot, and there are a lot of standard PS brushes that work and that pros still use, but it still took Adobe till 2019 to put in a non destructive flip in :/

For me it's csp. I don't care about liquify but it really pleases my autism to see the actual brush shape as the cursor which is why I gave ps a go, turns out it has a huge amount of baggage so no thanks (even though it may or may not have a better brush engine)

How fucking new are you. Ps isn’t even adobes first choice for photography software.

Unless you are some crayon eating one layer freelancer you are forfed to learn and use ps. Everythint from texture painting to logotypes or ui design to pixel painting is done in ps and if you can’t share files in a pipeline you’re not useful. Don’t be the blender guy in the team.

CC 2014 is fucking great, the only reason you should even entertain the idea of upgrading is a better content-aware fill from 2018 onward.
