Non-linear blending, usually according to the sRGB curve or a 2.2 gamma. Which is wrong, considering how light works. There is a good explanation, with examples, here: https://docs.krita.org/en/general_concepts/colors/linear_and_gamma.html

Pic related is an example from CSP, showing incorrect color mixing.

Describing a lack of linear workflow as "wrong' or "broken" is actually wrong though. I used to fall for the linear meme myself, but eventually I started to dislike working with the heavily compressed darks, and woke up to the fact that digital artists I trust and respect get by just fine without using a linear canvas. Non-linear blending it really isnt that big a deal, not worth the compressed darks IMO.

I don't know why they couldn't give this project to one of their summer of code students to knock out. It's not a feature that's so critical that keeps me from painting but I think that color sliders is one of the main features that any art program should have. Every other art or photo editing program I use has color sliders.

The big problem with Krita's line mode is that it doesn't preview the stroke unless you keep still for two seconds and it gets irritating fast. Other tools don't do previews at all, so precision work goes right out the window.

Art software on the damn Amiga had this figured out 30 years ago. There is no excuse for Krita's shortcomings.

I was asking if by "heavily compressed blacks" he meant seeing the value bar like in the previous image. That would be easily solved by changing the display gamma of the color selector, to look like yours. With it set to 1.0, it looks like pit attached, which obviously makes it difficult to work with dark values.
