4002773 No.4002773 [Reply] [Original]

someone told me the way i draw looks like how several of their friends have drawn while on acid.
i've also had a lot of other people comment that it sort of looks weird, usually the lines.

is it just because it is scribbly or am i doing something weird?

its been several people
most of it seems to be comments that it seems like some type of psychedelic drug, usually acid and especially acid by people familiar with drugs (ie like the one who recently said it looked like what their acid friends produced ON acid), some type of dissociative drug, or some type of dissociative/psychotic disorder

more often it is the acid comments

>i dont really know why
because of the scribbled lines. thats it. what you are doing wrong compared to normal sketching is scribbling flowy lines that have nothing to do with the subject. they dont describe forms. they just go off in a random direction and together those lines make up a deranged picture.

because nobody fucking scribbles random lines on paper unless they are under 10, on drugs, or derange. your lines are messy scribbles and they associate that with what they draw when they are on drugs

because they associate it with something they have seen before, which is their friends' acid scribbling. what is your issue with this? your art looked like another thing, and they made that connection.

look at your drawings pal. the second page of sketches in particular just shows that youre making scribbles that only vaguely come together to form an image.

>i wasnt sure if maybe i did actually do something to my brain that is visible in what i am doing
are you paranoid that a past acid trip is affecting your drawings? thats not a healthy mindset, and i assure you that nothing like that has happened to you. the reason that people are saying your drawings look like acid scribbles is because you are scribbling. thats it. clean up your linework, put some thought into your work, and then it will be discernible from scribbles made from people on acid, who have messy linework and dont put thought into their work.
sorry if i was mean in my earlier replies.

not paranoid.
just i HAVE done a fair amount of acid previously and then people repeatedly commenting on it made me wonder. from this thread it seems like its just altered my sketching style to be more scribbly than is normal so, like someone on acid, even though i am no longer on acid. so i guess this is why they keep saying it. ???????

NO. that is not what anyone is saying, and that is a very unhealthy mindset to have. any previous acid trips will not be affecting the way you draw currently. your scribbles are the cause of people associating your art with acid, but acid has not made your art more scribbly.

ANYONE who SCRIBBLES would be called out for having SCRIBBLES similar to someone who is on drugs and is not a practiced artist.
just stop scribbling, practice your draftsmanship, and you will know that acid hasnt affected your drawings.

>> No.4002943

Its cause you have no line confidence.

When I draw on acid, it looks like 40 ideas crammed into one and different forms always take over my drawing and its constantly turning into something different.

Sort of feels like what you are showing but you aren't on acid so you can make it look like something in the end. Like everyone else says, it looks like scribbles that you then pulled forms from.

Honestly, has a pretty cool look on some of them because you have some perspective and the shapes feel ok....But yea, you draw weird and should cut that shit out cause it isn't helping you in your final pieces. Work on line confidence and take a chill pill on the saturation.

Also, stop doing side drawings like this
>>4002780
and do more like this
>>4002775
scribbles in side view make it look amateur. A little perspective with the scribbles makes it interesting.

i do more with movement/perspective than side views i am pretty sure
i usually have a harder time with sideviews
that was to look at the different shapes in a bear and how their back legs sit differently vs. other large predators like dogs/cats and also how the hump on their shoulderblade area sits

thats fine if its how you like drawing, but i think its important to understand that the reason your drawings are associated with scribblings is because that is the style of drawing you like. im not sure that its possible acid can affect how you draw outside when you are not taking it.
as long as you know that its possible for you to draw differently, you can know that your previous trips wont hold you back. good luck man.

p.s. if these drawings you are currently posting are from before this shift in style, definitely dont worry. it looks pretty similar in terms of linework
