I didn't have to come up with an "excuse", the signs were there from the start. If you can't tell why it looks western you should look at more eastern art. Even old school anime cels and promotional artwork don't look like that. The way it is shaded and the way the line art uses the same weight throughout the drawing makes it look like it was made in Flash or some other vector illustration program, which is normally associated with western animation.

Japanese animated batman TAS but obviously had the american staff check the designs. Redline had lots of westerners do animation work but the japanese checked the designs. Animation is a huge different rabbit hole but we're obviously talking about individual illustrations by artists.

I figured you'd say this and thought about putting that in my last post, but decided against it.

But even at the case they're not 18+, they're at least at a decent enough age to be interested in 18+ material, which would indicate they're probably at least 14-15, at a bare minimum, which is past 'very young' age and by 14-15 most actual art focused kids have developed a decent amount of skill.

And school of thought. You have to remember, Europeans use a lot of body language in comics, while Americans like to use big action shots rather than calm scenes. The oriental style lies mostly in design, focusing on looks to define the character right off the bat.
