I got tons of em. Mostly for SAI 2 though, which you should get because they're even making stamp-like brushes now too, similar to photoshop.

It feels like the paintings made with programs that use "simpler" brushes that just "IMITATE" traditional media looks better than programs like corel painter that uses more "complex" brushes to "SIMULATE" traditional media.

I don't use gimp but I know that gimp about a year or two ago imported MyPaint's brush engine and default brushes. I like a lot of the pencil/painting brushes that comes with MyPaint.

https://docs.gimp.org/2.10/en/gimp-tool-mypaint-brush.html

I personally recommend Krita more but you should try both and see which one you like more. Maybe try MyPaint too. It doesn't have transformation tools or color filters though.

Also there's this old Gimp Paint Studio add on

Honestly just use the default brushes.
It's never about the brush, it's always the technique. tweak em to your won personal preference. Hell most people have never tried a tenth of the brush features in PS before going into custom brush.

Because they have been in the same position and found out through trial and error that chasing the perfect custom brush is retarded and you should master the hard round and other default brushes first.
The main reason industry professionals use any other brushes is to save time on textures and plants. You dont need to save time if you are learning.
Its like using photobashing because you say it in a speedpaint. Except most people using photobash that have jobs can do it without photos, it jusg saves time.

Related to PS.
Anyone know how you change brush size with keys and you make it to 10x pixels, is there anyway to remove the function where it automatically goes to 15px after that?
I would like to increase size just one by one by pressing keys and not jump a whole 5 pixels.
Btw MUST BE ABLE TO DONE WITH KEYBIND, sliding is useless in the middle of drawing.

/ic/ is a paradise of people who hear good advice ("a new brush won't magically make you good and you can do great art with simple tools") and twist it into something fucking retarded ("Never use new brushes - basic tools do everything best!").

Brushes are tools. You can draw a straight line without a ruler - if you practice a lot you can even do it reasonably quickly and quite accurately, but if you want a straight line and no fuss and have a ruler right there, use the fucking ruler.

I actually made a custom script a long time ago just to do that. It increments the brush size by 1 pixel.
Just add it to your Presets->Scripts folder (in Program Files), then restart Photoshop.
You'll find the scripts in File->Scripts menu in Photoshop, then you can set a shortcut to that.

>> No.3958876

>>3957656
Is is possible to make a script to increase the brush size by less than a pixel? Maybe 0.3 - or 0.5 pixels.
The jump from size 3 and 4 in PS is crazy and unusable because of the difference, with the default hard brush at least.
Pen pressure lets you get a size inbetween but you cant select it manually which is a pain in the ass.

anybody here good with the ins and outs of photoshop?
my pen pressure isn't sensitive enough, or some setting is preventing photoshop from registering a lower minimum value.
the only way it will draw lines of size 1 is if I set the size of the brush to 1. otherwise its stuck at a pretty large ratio of the brush size. in the shape dynamics I have the size control set to pen pressure with a minimum diameter of 0%
in other applications such as krita, i can achieve the full dynamic range

Krita pencil tilt brush. Works best if you have a graphics tablet that supports tilt though. The best alternative to this effect if your tablet doesn't support tilt is to go to brush settings and check "drawing angle" under "
