For me, a good clothing design is one that doesn't shatter my suspension of disbelief when I think about the fact that these people have to get out of these clothes every night and put them back on in the morning, and if the clothing they're wearing is downright ridiculous and they're supposed to be adventurers then it's bad design.

My first impression of this character is that she has a bold/aggressive demeanor (expression, hot colors, spikey hair) while being practical-minded (earth tones), and is a hard worker (orange + chains makes me think of construction, and she has a muscular build). A strong, no-nonsense character. Is that accurate?

The colors work well together and the design feels unique without being cluttered.

My only point of concern is the underwear-length skirt. Is there a reason for it to be that short? My impression of hyperrevealing designs is that the designer prioritized their erotic preferences over the actual character. Even in a fantasy setting, it looks kinda silly and makes it harder to take the character seriously.

Thank you, I appreciate the reply. You are correct, she is an aggressive, strong-willed character.

The skirt was supposed to be like bike shorts with a sort of disconnected skirt on top. The bike shorts were for an athletic look, and I broke up the skirt just so it was a little more unique than "girl with skirt".

As for the length, she uses a kanabo (pic related) which opens up and acts as a flamethrower. So I didn't want anything too long and flowy that could easily catch fire. Though I suppose the shorts themselves could serve to be longer.

So if I made a character carry around fishing equipment and had a general nautical theme and had their environment be desert wasteland you woulden't question it. Having a character fit the environment and their personality is essential. Real people dress in a way that represents themselves and if I saw someone wondering the desert in snorkel and mask it would seem horrible off unless they weren't right in the head. An in that case the snorkel makes sense for the character because they are obviously dealing with issues as you can tell by their character design.
