Lately I've been thinking that limiting value and color a lot is a great idea

Does anyone have any resources regarding using narrow value range? Googling doesn't get exactly what I want

For value you should look up the terms major and minor key, high contrast and low contrast and how they relate to mood. I know nma has courses on it and watts atelier has staging and storyboarding course that features it.

For color look up color gamut and color harmony. You can build limited palettes by choosing a color scheme like complementary but then picking 1 color to be the main color and picking low saturation versions of the other colors, grayed out colors hwrmonize better b3cause they are closer to each other and they take on the hue of highly saturated accent colors when placed beside them.

Schoolism, james guerney and alla prima are good sources of color theory

A little unrelated but I can't wait for this cool feature that will come out in the next version of Krita soon. You'll be able to use gamut masks to limit your color palette on the color wheel based on the technique developed by james guerney.

Part 8 in this nma series introduction to major and minor keys. Behind a paywall though.
