Not on the mega but there's a book called Athlete by Howard Schatz that has pretty good refs, not sure anyone here has it but you can find lots of pictures from it by just googling. >are there any other W40k artbooks? really dig that artstyle that was in the 80s/90s.
There *are*, but the only ones I have are for John Blanche and Clint Langley.

GW has a habit of putting out art books on a limited basis, or else charging 75 quid apiece so only old grogs like me (the only people who would spend that kind of money on a book that doesn't give newer/better roolz fer yer ladz) buy them and hoard them. I now know there are at least three Jes Goodwin books (The Gothic and the Eldritch, plus an Eldar sketchbook and a Dark Eldar sketchbook), and an Adrian Smith book (pic related).

I'd like to see a Russ Nicholson book. He did a ton of pen and ink illustrations for articles in White Dwarf for GW, but also most famously drew most of the pictures in the First Edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Fiend Folio for TSR back in the day.

Anyway, while they weren't *technically* art books, the Liber Chaotica series had a bunch of gorgeous art in them. Here are all five in one PDF:

I want to touch up on the basics on form and techniques for drawing them, for example "contour lines" where you draw a flowey line and then draw a dynamic pose alongside it. I feel like I've been out of practice/forgot some of these and have drawing been this without completely understanding how I am doing it if that makes sense, see how I am terrible at explaining it?
So my question is that are Loomis books good for that and the other starter books in it? I kind of hate reading and he seems to digress with silly explanations a lot.
My resources up to now have been literal who starter books(but if I remember they explain things pretty nicely) I bought years ago and a shitload of tutorials I've downloaded over the years.

Okay so I color corrected, repaired, and reduced the images to 300dpi which has brought the total .cbz file to 1.45GB in size. I'm only dissatisfied with the crops which aren't uniform; the book's pages just barely fit onto my measly little scanner, so they were hard to properly orientate and isn't really something I could fix in post. So the pages don't exactly match up correctly but you don't notice it at a glance anyway. I'm uploading it right now; it's gonna be a couple hours since my up speed is garbage.

comic book archive; it's essentially a readable zip file. The reason why the file size is so big is because you're gonna be viewing each page in all their lossless glory; if you've ever downloaded comics, manga or even some artbooks online (like from /co/'s win-o threads) then cbr/cbz is the preferred format as it's much better for archival purposes when compared to .pdf compression. If you want access to the individual pages then just rename the file extension to .zip (or .rar if it's .cbr) and simply export the folder. Like >>3955777 said, sumatrapdf is what most people use.

If you download a zip archive full of JP2 files then use ACDSee Photo Studio (pirate if necessary) or

That's all there is. I skipped downloading the first parts because the process of doing so was too tedious and I didn't want to bother with obvious stuff that can be seen anywhere else. You can always get yourself a free trial on NMA (you'll need a paypal at least) and watch those if you're curious.

Ever notice how you can't really find manga or anime scripts online like you can for western film, television and comic books; why is that? I've been told on numerous occasions that in Japan, they don't rely on them as much as we do here although I'm still skeptical. Starting with the storyboards first isn't common practice in the western film/television/comics industry but I guess with the proliferation of storyboard collections it makes sense; they're essentially the anime/manga equivalent of a screenplay. For animators, they're a great resource on how studios planned out their projects. If you took a film and laid out every frame sequentially you'd still miss many of the keyframes they used to build a scene. For illustrators, they're great reference books for sketches and line art of iconic scenes and characters. I think one can get more use out of a single storyboard collection than any rudimentary how-to.
>Is there any book that teach you how to turn a story into a screen-play, then to a storyboard like that.
I don't think there is, unfortunately; there are plenty of books that teach you how to write a screenplay; I haven't really looked into many how-to books on the storyboarding process outside of comics though, which is pretty casual by comparison.

Much of anime is based on existing manga and novels. In the case of manga, they are practically storyboards already.

Well iirc manga scriptwriting starts with NAMEs, which is just another form of the storyboarding process; it's literally the industry standard to start with storyboards for mangaka. The artist-author is presumed to have everything prepared for the publisher by themselves which seems so.. stressful. Why don't collections exist of them, specifically? All of the nameless assistants they eventually hire who end up doing in-betweens don't get enough credit. Compare that to say, 2000AD where the task of creating a single issue can be evenly distributed across a multitude of people (writing, sketching, inking, coloring, lettering, etc). Speaking of which, here's the link to their scriptbook again:

It does not. The book is mostly art for Street Fighter II and its many variants, but includes just about every kind of weirdness (Capcom vs. SNK, Capcom vs. Tatsunoko, etc.) the Street Fighter characters have found themselves in. There's a small section on Street Fighter IV, but I don't see Juri in there at all.
