Culture mostly

Westerners love shitting on hard work and being autistic towards your hobbies. Show any form of passion toward the thing you want to improve on and they'll shit on you or call you gay.
Though asians will think you're weird for putting effort into anime and stuff, most of the time as long as you're working hard on your career and being an overall decent person, then they see no problem with it. Also your average animu worker gets paid like crap like your average gaijin animator; tying into the general asian culture from before, they still do it because hard work = good thing. I wouldn't say its a positive thing but the world isn't perfect and you'll always have your downsides.

let me redpill on you this anon

because western parents are lazy, japan parents are not

kids will want to draw the characters they like. and the ones who will do it long enough will become the future animators or designers too. but a kid cant put a lot of work into a craft if he has lazy parents, their laziness will rub off on him. simply by being bullied by their own parents for working so much (and point it out to them by contrast how lazy they are) which in turns lowers their moral. they need low hanging fruit not to break down emotionally. so their cartoons are easy to imitate not to frustrate the kids, and by extensions the parents

japanese parents arent going to be bothered by their kids spending a few more hours drawing and being frustrated or not if when they come from work they are too tired to give their kids more than 5 mins

Good old nepotism coupled with companies putting diversity hires in charge of shows that children don't even watch, because it gives them good publicity in trying times. Said diversity hires then hire their buddies from art school / random tranny artists from social media who can't even stay on model and only work to inject their gay shit in kids shows. Same reason why Disney doesn't pull the plug on Marvel comics.

The biggest irony in people always spouting this is that America is one of the most overworked countries in the world and they don't even realize it. Meanwhile in Japan they literally shit at their desk and watch cat videos "working".

Its actually frowned upon in Japan to work too hard, because then you're showing up your coworkers and your boss and they'll just heave a fuckton more work on you for the sake of punishing you. You work by being at your desk, not by actually working.
In America they actually care about what you're performance is.

I’m slightly bitter about that. But I’m old so I copied a lot of styles from being raised on cable and vhs growing up. Early 2000s anime was a huge influence too. I will never stop drawing.

It's the ugliness more than the laziness. Americans have an obsession with the 'authentic', which often just means taking something that works and turning it on its head. There can be no long lasting artistic traditions in such a climate, because if an appealing style emerges the first instinct of the American is to disfigure it in the name of originality. In contrast the collectivist Asians work together without hostility towards those who copy their styles. Variations in style do emerge, but as a natural consequence of taste, rather than from an obsession.

even if 3d animu becomes cheaper to produce, they still have the audience that want a high standard of the visual aspect of anime (no animation errors or QUALITY, etc.)
Also most weebs hate the 3d shit because it doesn't look good for the anime style- and it doesn't produce the same feeling of 2d animation.

Also you're forgetting the fact that westerners do a WORSE job when it comes to cel shaded 3d, RWBY being the epitome of that example along with the Dragon Prince (made by the guy who created Avatar the Last airbender I think).

Rwby has arguably better animation for the budget it has compared to anime studios. Dragon prince as shitty as it is definitely has better animation than any 3d cell-shaded anime out there anyways. >>3942534
>going this far to defend western shit and not wanting to admit that western studios have flaws
RWBY and monty's animations are lacking in basic animation fundamentals, most notably weight in movement/impact. Also the scenes have horrible composition and relies on 5 second 'cool' action ideas when the rest of the 20min episode looks like pic related.
Dragon prince has fundamental problems too, but in fps. Its much, much lower than even anime's average fps that makes the animations 'clunky' but does so because smooth 3d animations that you see in disney don't work with cel shaded shapes that look 2d.

you keep posting Beserk, but you seem to not show other bad anime 3d that's recent (aka hide the fact that there's dozens of examples of japs being able to pull off good 3d in their style out of 1 shitty one- where as all of western produced celshading has been objectively shit; common examples are Arpeggio of Blue Steel, BRS (both came out at the same time as RWBY), Houseki no Kuni)

Not even the same anon you replied to originally. Berserk is just a great example of horrid animation. literally the only good 3d anime you listed is Houseki no Kuni and that’s only because they follow western medium techniques. The show still has many flaws you can cherrypick as you do the same. Also the only reason why Dragon prince’s FPS is so low is very clearly due to budget cuts and time constraints. It’s not the fake meme everyone tries to peddle that they want to imitate 2d animation. It just takes a lot more time to put in more frames just as any other animating medium (there’s scenes in houseki no kuni with the same frame rate this isn’t unique to dragon prince). They have even addressed these complaints and are going to fix it in the next seasons (season 1 and 2 are actually just a split season).

Adventure time has some really nice visuals. There’s been plenty of times where they hired guest animators too. It’s so strange to hear this show as bland. Even Steven universe has some wonderful bgs but I can understand how this one isn’t easy on the eyes.

>> No.3945369

>>3945337
This. western cartoon industry will always find ways to cut corners. Plus it has always outsourced its animation so it’s not like animators have any passion behind it. A Steven universe episode cost around 1.2 million to make while a show like ok ko with far lower ratings has a budget of much less. It cost a whole lot to fix the many errors episodes have when offshore animators send back the finished product. So they have to pay on top of the already agreed to amount to fix these errors. While in japan this hasn’t been the case until more recent times and they do the opposite. They overwork their workers who have passion for the things they make and underpay them. This leads to anime having higher quality animation at a fraction of the cost so really in the west’s eye ok ko is cheap but for Japan an ok ko episode would be considered expensive.
>inb4 it’s too much money no way it’s a million
Rebecca sugar has a net worth of 4 million, and she only receives a tiny amount of the profits. The entertainment industry is very profitable, it’s just right now cable is dying but she still manages to turn a profit. Not to mention animation in most higher-up’s eyes are seen as far too expensive to make so that’s why there tends to be a dry spell until networks make a hit.

You obviously don't know how 3d animation works if you think the low framerate is due to budget and not an intentional choice. You get the inbetweens for free in 3d and you can tweak them in a graph editor, node editor, program it etc to introduce variance in timing and spacing.
You have to go out of your way to skip frames like dragon prince does to try and emulate a 2d feel (and fail).
The game guilty gear xrd is a good example of 3d animation cutting frames to emulate 2d successfully.
