like..i'm thinking of investing in getting paint tool sai since a lot of people seem to use it...and the sai 2 prototype seems promising....but the issue is...i wanna save money

I did buy a license for Sai 1 because I really liked it and felt it was worth paying for. I’ve forgotten my license key and have pirated it almost every time I’ve needed to reinstall it since.

I've been using a pirated copy of SAI for the past 10 years and very recently bought a license since I finally had cash to spend on it and I wanted to support it properly since the program was made my one guy iirc. It has a 30 day trial so I'd say try that first to see how much you like it. It's well worth the cash to me especially compared to other drawing programs and if you like it a lot but you can just do what I did with pirating and buying later (theres Pirated versions of SAI 2 out there as well) or use free programs like medibang or kirita instead, or at least til you have cash for SAI.

Most of their money comes from studios that have to buy the program for 1000 computers

Main thing is that its 64 bit, so has far more memory allowing for high layer counts in big projects. But it has other small features like text tools, new brush mechanics, smudge tools etc.

I bought CSP for like 40-50. I bought Lazy Nezumi for that jitter bug fix in photoshop.

As long as it's not expensive as fuck like Photoshop, theres nothing wrong with paying for something that will work.
